I was wondering about the amount of calories and grams of carbs vs calories. Let me explain what I am asking, the last couple of days my protein has been higher than my carbs. for example  yesterday my totals

Total calories   1290
Fat: 64  575  45%
  Sat: 31  275  22%
  Poly: 58  5%
  Mono: 18  163  13%
Carbs: 89  285  22%
  Fiber: 18  0%
Protein: 104  416  33%
Alcohol: 0%
todays totals so far
Total calories   1269
Fat: 51  458  38%
  Sat: 24  215  18%
  Poly: 23  2%
  Mono: 10  94  8%
Carbs: 121  361  30%
  Fiber: 31  0%
Protein: 96  382  32%
Alcohol: 0%
is this a bad thing? I know i have to get my fat under control, but I was just wondering about the carbs and protein.  I have about another 20 lbs I just can't seem to loose. I have not lost a single pound since Feb. Any help is very much appreciated.

Other than bringing the fats down, which you already said you know you need to do, the numbers look fine to me.

Thanks, you read so many posts you just forget what exactly what you are suposed to do. I did read on a post that you are suposed to eat more protein than carbs. Then on others you read the ratios are supposed to be 50, 25, 25 carbs, fat, protein. So I am just confused.

I believe the 50-25-25 ratio is based on the FDA food pyramid.  After RNY we need a different balance.  More like 40% protein, 30% carbs, 20% fat.  Or sometimes I've seen it as 35-30-25. Right now I'm in the rapid weight loss phase at 6 months out.  My only goal with carbs is to keep the total number of grams per day below my total number of grams of protein.  So if I eat 100g protein, I allow myself up to 99g carbs.  It seems to be working for me so far.  Pam

Thanks, even after a year out these things are so confusing. Espically when you can't keep in touch with you RD. I emailed her a couple of months ago and the only precentage she gave me was to keep my fat at no less than 30 %, but she did not say anything about the rest. Congradulation, if you are losing rapidly, I never did. I maybe lost 1-2 pounds a wee****il I hit my 8th month and then I stopped losing, haven't lost a pound since, and I have tried every variation I can think of and heard of to kick start it again and nothing has seemed to help. But once again thanks for the input, I will try this and see if it works, can't hut to try, right?

GOD BLESS   Cynthia
