NUT's: Does a protein shake "count" as breakfast?

Happy Friday! I keep reading that eating breakfast is a must for keeping weight off long term. I start every morning with a scoop of protein powder in my coffee and then eat either a protein snack, or lunch about 3 hours later. I don't really like to eat after my coffee b/c I'm just not hungry and the milk in my coffee leaves me feeling pretty full. does a protein shake "count" as a meal/breakfast? TIA

When you sleep at night, your metabolism sleeps too. Eating breakfast wakes up your metabolism for the rest of the day. Yes, your protein & coffee will wake up your metabolism (and technically counts as breakfast); however, I would still advise you to eat a little something with your coffee. Even just a half of a piece of toast or 2 saltines or something. Even a piece of fruit .....

I use Any Whey flavorless powder, by Optimum Nutrition. No taste at all.
