Honey

I have always loved honey and have been a bit weary to try it.  I am tollerating fruits and small amounts of sugar (ex: I have no problem with Gatorade).  I made some chicken and really wanted to dip it into a little honey but wasn't too sure.  Has anyone tried a little honey with success?

Hi, just remember Honey is loaded to the gills with carbs... All you can do is try and see what happens.... I know not the best advice on the planet, but I suppose everyone reacts differently!! Mia

Honey has 128 calories in 2 tablespoons and 34g of sugar.   I haven't tried it - although I'm not a big honey eater to begin with.  But I personally could think of something else to "spend" 128 calories on --- like dense protein that would keep my pouch full for a while.  (2.5 oz chicken breast is 117 calories.)   At this early stage of eating you're probably only taking in about 500-600 calories, right?  So those 128 calories would equal about 20% of your total caloric intake for the day.

Sometimes we need to turn around our way of thinking about food.  Just because we CAN eat something doesn't mean we SHOULD eat it.

I put honey in my tea every night (a dripping teaspoon - 60-70 cals) and I am steadily losing 4-5lbs a week. I do track my total calories on DailyPlate though. I don't dump on anything and personally, those artificial sweeteners were giving me crazy stomach pains. I would absolutely try honey, just make sure you are at home and not in a hurry to rush off anywhere in case you dump. Good Luck!

Thanks, Glitzi I was pretty much asking about how people react to honey with the assumption that I use it just a little and keep on track with everything else.  It is good to know you tolerate it - I think I will try some honey garlic chicken this weekend.
