I am at 6 weeks today and can start regular diet. YAY!   I know some people have issues with the membranes of oranges/grapefruits, etc. But are little mandarin orange segments ok? Maybe chopped into small bits in a salad? Just wondering if I shoud try this early out.

Hi Fab4fan, I love oranges and was able to have them pretty early out with the blessing of my RD.  I think you can try a few wedges and see if your tummy can tolerate them.   Will you be eating them as a snack or with a meal?

As a snack and maybe just tossed in a jello salad. Something like that.  I figured the segments were so small that if I chewed well they woudlnt bother me too bad. Thanks!

This is just my personal experience I had to chime in on.I started them after about 6 months and never had a problem. To me they are a good alternative to oranges because I can never get enough of the membrane off to set my mind at ease.I have only had 1 orange because of my fear and have never had a problem with the mandarins. One word of advise.Occasionally I notice a pit gets in that they didnt catch.I almost swallowed one.So watch each segment you get on your spoon.I dont know this far out if a pit would cause a problem but it cant be good to swallow one.
