Hair loss shampoo?
I've been taking biotin (pill form of protein for hair and nails) since before surgery and use nioxin products (shampoo, conditioner and folicle booster) and still lose hair even now!
we lose hair because we're not getting enough protein. the center I go to says its a 3 month turn around. The first 3 months after surgery you're not getting the amounts of protein you were before so the hair loss starts in 3 months. Three months after you start losing it, it will start growing back and stop falling out so much. Just a great benefit of having WLS surgery! lol

Hi Stylz,
Boy I hope you are right about the growing back and it will stop falling out....I had my surgery August 29, 2007 and almost like clock work at 3 months, I started losing my hair...less of it is falling out now (but of course there is not much left to fall out, it was thin to begin with). I have been using the Nioxin shampoo and conditioner and in the last week I have noticed that my hair feels like dried straw after I wa**** but...I am hoping that my hair loss days are coming to an end.
My protein intake has been good for the last 3-4 months. The first few months after surgery my protein intake was really lacking though. I have not been able to take the Biotin because I break out in hives approximately an hour after I take it.
Just call me waiting for hair LOL. Karen Schworm
it will get better just keep getting as much protein in as you can :)
its funny when people ask me what the worst part of wls is I say hair loss! I guess they expected me to say the proceedure or the first week without food or what have you.. the must think im when I tell em its something as simple as hair loss lol
