Where have the RDs gone?
I saw the message posted about the RDs being "absent"
Just to clear things up:
We are here, moderating the forum. Often, excellent responses are shared between members - and those members post before one of us RDs see the question. If the question is answered using first hand experience and good information, usually we will leave it alone.
We try very hard to counter mis-information and eliminate some of the myths that surround pre and post-op care. Sure, we miss things sometimes. If you have a question that you really want the RD to answer, try sending a PM to one of us. We will answer you directly!
When the questions are too specific or need to be tailored to your specific needs - we have an obligation to provide good advice and this can be a professional liability issue. We may point you in the direction to help find an answer, but we cannot do personal assessments on OH. We are happy to answer general questions and offer advice, particularly when the information is useful to everyone reading the board. Questions that are too specific are not appropriate for this venue and should be directed to your personal dietitian. That doesn't mean that other members won't help you out though!
We are striving to provide sound, evidence based nutrition information and we are doing this is a public forum. We try very hard to address new issues and shed light on areas that may not be well known in other nutrition circles. We hope you enjoy our contributions.
We all enjoy the interaction that goes on between members - your support for each other is awesome and that's really the point of OH after all!
