Hello, I am new tothis forum. It was recommended by someone. I am 5 1/2 months out and I think I am able to eat too much. My biggest problem is in the evenings after work. All I seem to want to do is eat. During this time I think about food alot. Here is what I ate yesterday. Breakfast---1 whey protein shake Lunch-1 can Healthy Choice Chiken Veg soup & a banana Dinner-1-grilled cheese sandwhich on "delighful " bread(mulit-grain, 45 calories per slice bread) snacks--2 cups Kashi cereal with skim milk and splenda 8 whole wheat crackers with peanut butter 1 c skim milk I walk on treadmill 6 days a week for 30 minutes per day. Is there a nutritionist here that can tell me if I am on track?? I have not seen my NUT for a few months because I have to travel 3.5 hours away and weather/driving issues. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you & Blessings,

CHRISC

Hi, Well, I would first tell you that I think it's in your best interest to call your nutritionist and try to make a phone-appointment with her. As dietitians, we don't have to physically examine you, so many times we can answer questions over the phone - or on-line. In any event, your question is: "am I on track?", and my response is: No. You don't look like you're eating enough protein. I didn't calculate your daily intake, but from first glance, your protein is really only coming from your one protein shake, a bit of cheese, and some peanut butter. You need to bump up your protein in your meals and try to have the protein shake as a snack. However, you are exercising - so, that's good. But really, you do want to re-look at your diet and increase the protein. Go back to the information your dietitian probably gave you before surgery to find suggested meal plans or a list of protein foods. In addition, make sure you are taking all the recommend vitamins. Good luck.
