I'm just wondering when exactly it is safe after WLS to get pregnant and also would any part of our "diet" need to be altered? I also posted on the pregnancy board, but I'm just curious as to nutrional needs as well. Thanks

I recommend waiting at least 18 months post op before getting pregnant. If you are thinking about it, talk to your OB GYN and start pre-natal vitamins ASAP. They contain more folic acid - a vitamin essential for a healthy baby -- Getting on board with the prenatal vitamins early is a good idea. Other than that, you'll just want to continue with your other regular vitamin routine (iron, calcium, B12, B-complex). It may be a good idea to make an appointment with your dietitian just to be sure your diet is well balanced. And, of course, be sure you always have sugar-free ice cream and pickles in the house .... :)
