Hello, I am four weeks out from surgery.  I don't remember hearing my surgeon or  his staff mention how many grams of protein I should have each day.  I know some days I am not getting enough to eat.  What do you suggest?   Thanks,  Lynn

General requirements for protein range from 60 gram to 100+, depending on the surgeon.  In the early stages, you are probably lucky to get to 60 gram per day. Keep track of what you are getting, keep a record, and discuss this with your RD on your follow-up visit.  The dietitian can help you figure out a good daily goal for your individual needs. Good luck!
