Hi, Kjackson, My surgery was 8/29/07 and I have on a few occasions eaten bread without it being toasted.  I chew it very well and have had no problems.  Hope this helps.  Karen Schworm

I have a hard time with bread still and I'm two years out.  I have found that I can use the Pepperidge Farm Very Thin white bread for sandwiches.  Most breads still "gum up" on me. But I know others who can eat regular bread.   Sally

Yes you can eat bread that is not toasted.  Just remember to take smaller bites and chew well to prevent it from becoming a dough ball.  I always recommend a whole grain bread which will provide you with some fiber to keep things running smooth. Happy Friday!
