As a RD do you think the 5dpt is a good idea?  I assumed it was a fad that led to yo yo dieting which I have tried not to get involved with since my rny surgery.  I am around 170 lbs now.  Do you think that is something I should do to lose another 10 lbs.?  thanks ,Linda

Linda, No, I do not think that this "diet" is a good idea.  You are correct in classifying this as a fad diet which you are very wise NOT to participate in after RNY.  Fad diets lead to yo-yo dieting which is what every single pre-op patient in my office has experienced without successful long term results.  Cheers!

I too agree it isn't a great diet especially since the person who "invented it" has no nutrition, nursing or doctor background.  its a post-op who found a way that works for her to lose weight or get back on track.   Just curious, as a registered nutritionist, why didn't you mention the facts about yo-yo dieting and or the "fad" diet information when posting the link a few messages up?
