I don't think I am typical but I an one year out and follow my Plan B diet because my RNY (Plan A) just hasn't worked for me.  It is on my profile page.  I am slowly losing.  take care, Linda

Hi John, I am 9 months post-op and have lost 87lbs. I haven't ventured out too much for fear that a lot of things don't agree with me, but here is a menu plan for 1 day: EM - EAS Protein Chocolate Shake (17 grams)          Decaf Hazelnut Coffee (30 mins later) B -    2 slices of turkey bacon (cooked in microwave)          1 scambled egg (cooked in Pam spray) S -     Dannon LF Strawberry Yogurt L -     Wendy's 8oz Chili (23 gr) S -     SF Chocolate Pudding w/ whey protein (23gr) D -    Grilled Salmon w/ green beans Water - Crystal - Coffee I still struggle with junk food (pretzels) and had a real hard time during halloween passing the candy bowl in the office.

I eat light compared to what I tend to see in others:

B: 3 oz roastbeef w/ light gravy 1 oz steamed carrots 200 cals 21g protein

24 oz Water

L: 8.5 fl oz pre-packaged Muscle Milk Light protein shake 150 cals 20g protein

24 oz Water

D: 2 oz of cheese slices and 1 oz of turkey slices 1 oz of fresh red seedless grapes 250ish cals 21g protein

S: tortilla with melted cheese 1.5 oz cheese 250ish cals 10g protein

24 oz water

cals: 850 protein: 72g water: 72oz

I've charted my weight loss and I haven't slowed down at all yet.  I'm still in a straight line decline of around 12 pounds lost a month.  So, it's working for me.

Obviously, I eat a lot of cheese protein. :)

I sit and think about the comfort foods I am giving up.  I guess I have to focus on what I have to gain.  Food is my tool as is the RNY to get slim and healthy.  McDonalds and Large portions were the tool to helping me get Reflux, tachycardia & 3X Shirts.

Hi, John.  I'm a little further out (2 years), but I thought you may find this information helpful as well when you're considering long-term meal plans.  Here's a typical day for me: Breakfast:  1 cup 1% milk w/ 2 cups coffee Quaker weight control oatmeal Snack #1:  1 cup cottage cheese w/ 4 tbsp. sugar-free preserves Snack #2:  piece of fresh fruit (whatever's in season) Lunch:  lean cuisine or WW smart ones - I look for meals that have at least 20 grams of protein and less than 35 grams of carbs Snack #3:  1 slice whole-grain bread, 3 slices smoked deli turkey, 1 slice lowfat cheese Snack #4:  Breyer's light yogurt, 1/2 serving Kellogg's AllBran Buds (for fiber!) Dinner:  5-6 oz. lean protein (chicken, steak, pork, fish - I can tolerate any protein), steamed veggies and salad - will sometimes have a half-serving of pasta or potatoes or rice or a dinner roll Snack #5:  a couple sugar-free fudgsicle or a Starbucks mocha bar or a Haagen-Daaz raspberry sorbet/yogurt bar (I leave myself 100-150 calories for an end of the day "splurge" - it helps me say "no" to other treats during the day if I know I can end my day with something a little sweet).   I do sometimes struggle with carb cravings, but it's usually triggered by eating carbs!  Carb cravings can be a vicious cycle and most days I try to avoid processed carbs because if I have one bite I just want MORE.  I'm fortunate that if I have too many processed carbs, I dump (elevated heart rate, generaly feeling of severe lethargy) so I'm careful about how many I eat.   I hope this information is helpful.  Good luck on your continuing journey -  Kellie Lap RNY10/25/2005 396/197/165?
