Hello, I would like to know what else is out there so early in this phase? I'm 6 week's post-op and I can't eat meats or veggies... I can eat jell-o and sf puddings and broths and egg drop soup diluted with water.. But I was thinking that I should be able to eat more by now.. Am I wrong?  I've tried boiling my chicken with no skin and it's so tender until it falls off the bones and I still can't eat it. Ground beef is out of the question... I was able to eat chili with no meat just beans.. and fruits.. are a big no no.. I tried kiwi, strawberries, peaches and apples... I do get my protein in by drinking my soy milk and whey powders..  do you have any suggestions? thanks a ton!

i also had problems with meat early out.  i ate a lot of beans, actually i still do.  refried with cheese, pinto beans with low carb pasta (dreamfields is yummy), i also like lentils with pasta.  navy bean soup, split pea are also great.  i know these have carbs, BUT they are good carbs, full of fiber and they are a good source of protein. Fish also worked well, salmon, haddock, crab and tuna all went down well.  just make sure u dont overcook it, cause dry fish gets stuck ~

Everybody progresses differently, so don't feel bad!  Early out, I ate a lot of dairy products - cottage cheese, light yogurt, low-fat or skim milk, low-fat cheeses, cheese sticks, etc.  They sat very well in my pouch and are a good source of protein.  Initially I could tolerate canned chicken better than anything I cooked myself; not sure why, just know it was so.  I could also tolerate Wendy's chili very well, ground beef and all.  Again, not sure why, just know it was so.

It took quite a while (4-6 months) before I could comfortably eat raw fruits and raw veggies.  In the interim, I ate canned light fruits and canned veggies (most have pretty soft textures).   If you're interested in using protein bars, I ate the Power Crunch bars very early out - I could chew them down to nothing, and they taste pretty good.  Can't remember where I bought them, but I'm sure you could find them w/ a quick internet search.   Good luck finding some tasty things to add to your daily meal plan, and good luck on your continuing journey -  Kellie
