Hello, I need help. I am 4 weeks post op and am pretty much on a regular diet now. I now being the stage of "trying" things. I know that the fist important is protein. I am not sure on how much to eat at one setting. I don't want to over eat and I don't want to under eat. What amounts should I be eating at 1 month post op. Thanks, Angi

Here's my rule of thumb for my clients (keep in mind, I don't know the exact surgery you had, but my clients have had a typical RNY): Eat 1/3 - 1/2 cup of food at each sitting. Sit down and eat. Don't eat while you drive, watch TV or talk on the phone. Pay attention to your feeling of fullness. Sometimes feelings of fullness can be in your arm or shoulder (really, it's true!), it may not be in your stomach. Enjoy every bite of food - slowly increase the amount of food you eat over time. SLOWLY. Eat your protein food first. Drink your protein shakes in between meals. At 4 weeks out, you are not going to be getting a "usual" WLS caloric intake. You'll likely hit 1000 calories around 3 months post op. Right now, you're just getting in what you can ...
