I had surgery on 8/6/07 and I am doing very well.  I always get at least 60 grams of protien.  After reading and reading information it seems I should be getting more protien.  How much should I get??  Also, how many grams of carbs, if any, should I be getting each day.  I don't think I could eat much more food. I would have to supplement with shakes and such. I know I am not getting a balanced diet, is this a problem?? Martha -

Great post. I have heard a wide variety of posts regarding the amount of protien that is optimum. My nut. wants us to get 60 to 80 grams a day. I'll really be interested to see what the nut. that moderate this board have to say.

Thanks again for the post.

Hello Ladies,

Great question, however there isn't a straight answer b/c it's based on height and weight. If you're of a shorter frame than 60 gm protein may be adequate. If you are taller than 60gm protein is definitely NOT enough. If you want a personalized assessment please go to our website, enutritioncare.com, and sign up. We'd be happy to give you YOUR specific requirements.  I would definitely recommend protein shakes b/w meals and please be sure to use a whey protein source.  Good luck,
