I try to get in most of my water but......sometimes it isn't possible.  I was told that if your urin is mostly clear you are doing good is this true?    Another thing is slimfast high protein good for us to drink?

Looking at your urine is one way of assessing adequacy of liquids. Actually we have a post on fluids that is going up today - look out for it. My question would be - if you are taking all of your supplements is your urine ever clear?  The unused Bs & C can create very colorful urine! For slimfast -  It's an option, though maybe not the highest protein choice I have seen - most of the powders provide much more protein.  If you are looking for the convenience of a ready-made product I can understand.  Comparing the labels of slimfast and sugar-free carnation instant breakfast (CIB)  ready to serve - they are almost identical. Slimfast HiPro (12 oz) 190 kcals, 15 g pro, 5 g fat, 24 g carb, 13 g sugar Sugar free CIB (10 oz) 150 kcals, 12 g pro, 5 g fat, 16 carbs, 12 g sugar The sugars are from the milk (lactose) mostly and not from added sugars. They are both less than 30% of calories from fat My opinion, you could make these a better choice by adding some additional protein - so you get more bang for your sugar buck.  They wouldn't be my first choice, but they could work if you are on the go or in a pinch to find something easy.  Overall, they're not horrible provided you can handle the sugar load and the lactose without any GI problems.
