My Dr is having me go on the following:

2 weeks clear liquid
2 weeks think liquid
2 weeks soft food

I'm 6 days post-op and bored with what i can have. Can you all make suggestions. I'm limited since I live in India and don't have exotic things like frozen popscicles. I've read others who are recently post-op and practically on to solid foods... they say that they can blenderize anything. I'm not prepared to do that, but would like to know what are the sane limits to this diet.

What does a nutritionist have to say?

I couldn't figure out how to post on the 'Ask a Dietician" message board... so posted it on the main nutrition message board.

Thanks for any wisdom on my question.

Hi Salina,           I am almost 5 weeks out with LBS and I could not and still cannot tolerate sweet products.  The SF jello, pops, even sweet yogurts.  I had to buy lemon, key lime with some tartness in them.  NUT says that is a good thing if I cannot tolerate sweets.  So, hopefully it is a good thing for you too.  Be well and stay healthy...Ellen

Does every doctor require a peron to be on a 6 month supervised diet before they do surgery?

Not every doctor, just a few. Many times it depends on your insurance company's requirements. This is a good question to post on the board.

Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb

I was told i could have anything at the full liquids stage that would go thru a straw. Some people eat baby food. I would get sick of the sweet protein shakes and have some cream of ckn soup (minus the ckn pieces) or any cream soup. Just make sure there arn't any chunks or pieces in it and that it is smooth. You'll be thru this phase before you know it. Good luck

I'm currently 2 weeks and 3 days out. I have done well on clear liquid, full liqiud, and now I'm on pureed food. I feel like I'am not getting enough in. I finally learned how to get the protein in. I take one protein shot which is 42g's and slim-fast High protein which is 15gs. That gives me a total of 57g a day. Now how do I get the liquid in like water, crystal lite, etc....... I take my vitamins every morning and night.

How many carloies am I suppose to have at this stage of weight loss? Please advise.
