Ask a Dietitian
ObesityHelp.com and eNutritionCare.com would like to announce that the Nutrition Forum will now be monitored by the select Registered Dietitians of eNutritioncare.com. To meet the needs of the ObesityHelp.com community the Diet and Nutrition Forum leaders will be here to answer the questions. We would also like topic and/or article suggestions from the community at large. What nutrition issues would you like covered?
If you would like your questions answered by a dietitian, please post them on the Diet and Nutrition message board.....we are watching!
You can also learn more about the forum leaders here.
Plateaus are common.
Please post your question separately. The sticky notes get locked...
Thanks!

Where are all the dietitian's? You guy's don't seem to answer the questions anymore......isn't this board......ASK A DIETITIAN? I alway's loved coming here to look and to ask a dietitian.......but it seems that people from the boards are answering all or most questions........Whats going on?
Thanks!
The questions do not necessarily have to be directed to a dietitian. Sometimes post-op people have better suggestions as to what vitamin to take, or what protein supplement to take, or what brand of oatmeal to use....
We are here to moderate the board. We clear up misinformation (which if you have been reading the posts you will see that we do get some people giving us negative feedback when we try to interject our professional opinion, which can be fustrating), and to answer questions specifically directed to a dietitian.
In addition, we have busy lives too. So, sometimes our schedules can get in the way of answering questions promptly. I do cruise the board every day and read all the posts (as do the other dietitians with enutritioncare.com) - and interject when needed or asked. However, sometimes, by the time I read the post, someone else has already answered the poster's question correctly. So, in those cases, we don't necessarily chime in.
If you have a specific question, you can always PM one of us and your question will be answered.
But, as for now, we are still here!

I had RNY on 01/17/07. I have lost 125 lbs. I have not lost a thing in 4 weeks. I really don't have much variety in what I eat. I wanted to try adding yogurt but I read the labels on ALL the ones in the grocery store and they all have so many grams of sugar. Is their a certain type you would recommend?
Also, I am noticing now that my pouch is changing. What I could eat 2 month ago causes me to dump now. For example oatmeal. Do you know what would cause that

I am only 3 weeks out from surgery/... But I just can't even fathom that in 11 months I could actually lose weight. Right now, I am so emotional, frustrated, TIRED. If you have any words of encouragement- or hope PLEASE help!
I do have some info for you.... our dietition- has given us the ok for
Dannon... LIGHT & FIT. (6oz) 0% fat, 0 added sugar and only 60 calories.
I was eating Dannon light yogurt, but it does have 15g or sugar.
Maybe this will help you out!
Thanks and good luck.

Sue,
Thanks for the tip on the yogurt. Unfortunately, it does not agree with my pouch right now. At first, I couldn't eat it, then I could, and now it is causing dumping. You never know from one day to the next.
I do understand the frustration, it comes from your mind trying to keep up with your physical changes. Some days are better than others. It does get better or at least you will get better at dealing with it. I read your profile and you are doing great for somebody who is less than 1 month post-op.
I am originally from Il. When I was going to have my surgery in IL, Dr Cahill was my doctor. I am glad you had a successful surgery and keep up the great job. Remember to take it one day at a time. It sound corny but it really does apply to WLS patients. Everyday is so different.

Sue-
I am just 6 weeks out from my gastric bypass. All I can say is hang in there and go with the emotions. You are raw with emotion right now and for me it was the first time dealing with all the emotions with NO food. I dont feel like eating much these days, so thats a plus, but feeling emotional is the problem. I get really frustrated at my husband and kids for no reason at times. Feeling tired with NO energy bothers me too. At 3 weeks post op it is normal to feel the way you do. Just know that a lot of people feel the way you do. I am new to this site and I wish that I found it 3 weeks ago. Everyday will get better though. It really does! I promise. Some days are better than others, but what you can do is walk, walk and walk. The key is to get up several times and do a little walking. Not far, but walking around for a few mintues does help. I know in the begining it is hard to stand and walk long, but it does get better. Have hope and keep positive. I kept telling myself that I will get better. I am fully back to "normal" but still feel weak on some days. Its a process, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there and think...you had the surgery adn this is what we all worked for!!!! This is a new start and months down the road we will forget all the pain we went through! Hope this helps!
Good luck and take care,
Jill
