I'm thinking about buying some protien bullets from FitFuel.com. There is 42grm per container. But after reading the ingredients I'm not sure if I want to.
Ingredients:

Pure deionized water, Actinase (patent pending blend of enzymatically hydrolyzed collagenic protein isolate, whey protein isolate and caseine protein isolate), malic acid, Myovol Complex (proprietary blend of leucine, valine and isoleucine), all natural flavors, acesulfame-potassium, sucralose, blue 1 and red 40.

Can anyone please explain exactly what is in this stuff? Rebecca

Rebecca, This is a protein formula blend with Actinase being a combination of collagen protein isolate, whey protein and casein isolate broken down into their component parts by enzymes (enzymatically hydrolyzed).  It also contains other amino acids leucine, valine and isoleucine (building blocks of protein), ace-K (artificial sweetener), sucralose (Splenda) and blue & red coloring.  Sounds like quite a bit of protein a each bullet..do you swallow a pill or mix it with something & drink?  There are so many protein powders, shakes, bars, etc out there that it is difficult to keep up on all of them.  The general rule of thumb after gastric bypass is to use a whey protein supplement with at least 15-20 grams of protein per serving, low sugar (< 6-8 grams per serving) and low fat (< 5 grams per serving).   Hope this helps! Can you tell me exactly what animal products are used in collagen protein isolate, whey protein and casein isolate ? I am a Vegetarian not a Vegan and am concerned I'll be consuming animal tissue or something. The supplement comes in 2.7oz liquid bullets. Thanks,  Rebecca

Rebecca, Whey is a by-product of cheese manufacturing from cow's milk. Caesin is the most predominant phosoprotein found in milk & cheese.  If you are a vegetarian who eats dairy, both of these would be OK.  However, collagen is the main protein of connective tissue found in animals and therefore would be considered an animal product. Ruth, This protein product seems fine...it is a great blast of protein in a serving.  If it tastes good and the price is right, go for it! Melania Behrens, MA, RD eNutritionCare.com
