Hello, I am 4 weeks out and feel like sometimes I am eating too much. I dont dump and if I eat slow, I can handle most food just fine. My cravings for sugar are making me  abit crazy.  How many calories should I be eating at this stage after WLS for optimal weight loss? I have a plan from my NUT but it doesnt discuss calories, just meals. Also, I absolutely hate protein shakes and try and get protein through my meals. I am 33, female, 5 ft 7 and weigh 268.5 right now (lost 18 lbs since surgery date of 8/14) . I think I am losing too slowly to be honest. Thanks, Maya

You should be eating 3-4 meals per day, never more than 5 hours apart. Do not snack Eat your protein first Right now your calorie level is not as important as getting your daily protein, getting your liquids, and taking your supplements.  Your body is making huge adjustments.  Be patient and celebrate the pounds that have already left! Include activity into your daily life - it is key for long term success! regards, Danielle Halewijn RD eNutritioncare.com
