Hello everybody. Im not really new here but i have posted a few times in a different forum. Really just lurked around while in the process of getting my surgery date. Well I finally got a date for surgery on Wednesday the 20th. And i have been so busy with my 2 kids and going to all the docs to get my clearances so i could get my surgery date before i lost my insurance coverage. Well anyway the point of this post is, being that i been so busy I havent really been able to get a good idea on what i need home as far as food and anything else that would be helpful for my recovery. When i went to the nurtionalist back in the summer she told me i would be on a puree/liquid diet. But i dont know what i should take to get in my 60 grams of protein aday, and really would like to know from people who actually have went through this already what kind of food suggestions they have tried that may work for me.... All replies are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advanced. P.S. I will be posting this on a few boards so if you see this more than once... Sorry

Hi, Congrats on your surgery. We both have the same date, but a year apart. Mine was last year. When I got out I survived on Baby food. Mostly fruits, because I couldn't tolerate other things. I can't eat anything with "sugar-free" on the label because I get sick from it, so everything has to have sugar in it. I tried Splenda before surgery and it was fine, but after surgery was a different story. I couldn't stand it. I drank my juice out of a child's 'spippy cup' because I couldn't use a straw. I ate alot of mashed potatoes. I will reply again I have to go, I have to get some sleep so I can get up later for work. I drive a bus and need to be alert.

You really need to contact your nutritionist. I would advise you to have cottage cheese, isopure protein drink as well as the mix on hand. splenda enhanced foods pureed chicken breast. Call your doctors.

Hi TT When I came home from the hospital and was on pureed /liquid I drank alot of the EAS shakes ( low carb) don't remember how much protein it was but I suplemented it with Any Whey Protein. It was unflavored so it could be added to just about anything. I also lived on Light and Fit Yogurt ( protein could be mixed with that too ) Alot of people suggest getting the " Magic Bullet" it is like a blender that has been sold on tv but I found mine at Walmart. Lately I have been using GNC Liquid Protein (18 gm protein) for 3 tblsp . I add it to a glass of water with some crystal light and ice. Alot of times I double it up for 36 gr. a glass. One good thing about GNC....if you purchase something and don't like it , as long as you have the receipt you can return it. Good luck, We will see you on the "losers bench" Sandy
