Dr. Kelly definitely does it. A friend of mine had it done with great results with him. I has my VSG done by him. He`s an excellent surgeon! Linda

Be very careful and do your research when deciding to go to Mexico. What is there experience and what are there credentials. Are they board certified in the US is a big one. My surgeon had done over 8000 of these surgeries by the time he had done mine, with over 10 years of experience doing the VSG. He only does 3-4 procedures a day max. Also, it is the only surgery he does, except for revisions. I've heard of some docs doing 10-12 surgeries a day. Will your surgery be done in an outpatient center or in a hospital. Complications can happen and it was important to me that there was a fully functioning ICU available to me, not that I needed it in the end. I'm an RN and I researched for over a year before I decided to go with Dr Alvarez. He is definitely not the cheapest, but it was within my means and I felt very safe with my decision. My surgery went off without a hitch, my recovery so far has been excellent. I'm almost 3 weeks post op now, still on my full fluid diet, but I couldn't be happier with my decision. I wish I had done it 10 years ago when I first thought about it. My surgeon sent me this link below when I mentioned concerns about going to Mexico to have surgery.

The concerns are real, so make sure to do your homework. I know I probably sound like a sales agent for Dr A. I promise you I am not. I was just so impressed by the care I received. I know there are many excellent surgeons to choose from, I guess I am just biased, I think mine is the best LOL. Hope this helps,

Chanti

Hi!

I haven't been on here in like forever, but I would like to throw out an invite to my Facebook group!!

I am from Moncton, and have had the Gastric Sleeve Surgery on February 14, 2012. I did well, started at 333 lbs from my highest and went down to 155 lbs. However my body didn't take time at all to bounce back up to 165 lbs. I seemed to have been sticking around that number for a few months, although by that time, it was already past 18 months post op and was really starting to see a huge change in my habits again. By time I hit 2 years Post Op, I found out I was pregnant and my brain shifted a whole different direction. I ended up gaining back almost 70 lbs, because I found I could not control any cravings, no longer had much of restrictions. My baby is now about to turn 1 in just a short couple weeks, and I still wasn't able to find the strength and energy to get back up on the wagon and lose the rest of the weight Iââ?¬â?¢ve gain. Iââ?¬â?¢m an emotional eater and I'm really having a hard time.

I decided to great a Facebook page for people that have been 2 + Years out of WLS and would like to join to either give or get support.

I used to come here often before surgery, and a bit after, but I noticed that most people awhile after surgery, they kind of disappear, including myself!

I find most post on here pertains most to Pre-Op and for the first few months or up to maybe a year after.

I personally find it easy to just be on facebook and I've been struggling lots, but I feel out of place posting here as seems not many people are posting about all the struggles a few years after surgery.

The group is secret, so anyone not part of the group won't be able to find the group or see topics, or even see members of the group, so it's more private.

I want to try to bring in people from the Martimes!! J as I know people do come here in Moncton or even Bathurst for surgery that are from PEI and also NS.

So if you are 2 years + out and would like to join my group, please let me know so we can get this thing started!!

Looking forward to chat with ya'llll!!

Thanks!

Hi!  I was at that session as well :)  I did two weeks of the liquid diet right away, started June 10th.  Now I'm trying to stick to the other meal plan as closely as possible.  There are definitely some local folks who were in the higher BMI range who could give you some great advice, I'm sure!  Can you email ([email protected]) me and I'll try to connect you with them?  This process is long and difficult, I would love to see you get connected with some amazing support peeps!  :)

Just thought I should say in case U were not aware, there are doctors in Quebec who also do self-pay surgeries as well.
