Referrals

Hey Everyone!

I emailed Diana to check on my status and make sure that my referral was received from October and thank goodness I did cause they didn't have it!!! I got an email back from their admin assistant Rachel who was awesome!  and I had to get my doctor to re fax it but they put it where it should have been from the date on the referral and fax paper from before.  They said it is still about a two year wait... Has anyone gone through MSI themselves to try to get the approval? I emailed them and they emailed me back saying that it has to be pre-approved if I go somewhere else, even though I don't want to because I have heard so many good things about Dr. Ellesmere! Is there even any other physicians that do it in Nova Scotia?  They said if I go out of prov. then they cover the hospital (ward) and physician fees, not accomidations or travel... What would you suggest? Waiting it out or looking around and try to get the pre approval with my doctor's help?

I CAN NOT TELL U WHAT TO DO BUT.... I WAS ON WAITING LIST FOR 8 YEARS.... IT WAS WORTH IT..DR ELLSMERE WAS GREAT..NOT TO METION HANDSOME! I HAVE NO REGRETS... HE HAS ONLY HAD ONE LEAK AND ONE INFECTION.... OUT OF A FEW HUNDRED I THINK... I CHECKED THE STATISTICS OF A DR IN NB... AND DID NOT LIKE WHAT I FOUND OUT...I WOULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN WITH ELLSMERE IN A MIN... THE WHOLE TEAM IS GREAT..THEY'VE TAUGHT ME ALOT! WHAT EVER U CHOOSE IM SURE WILL BE THE RIGHT DECISION FOR YOU! GOOD LUCK DOLL

I had been approved to go out of province but they only covered about $1000. So instead I had to wait. Hang in there.

Unless the list has grown by leaps and bounds, I have my doubts it'll take 2 years.

Thanks guys!  Makes me feel a little better!  I guess you kinda lose hopes sometimes looking at the big picture.. But on a brighter note I have been going to the gym for 6 days a week for the last two weeks (our YMCA offered a 12 week resolution program) and I have lost 5 pounds in the first week!  YAY!  I had gained since my initial doctor's referral back in October and was up to 300 pounds and now am down to 277 for a total of 23 pounds down since Christmas!  This makes me happy!!!!

Congrats to you for losing 23 lbs since Christmas!!!  That's quite a task!

Wow that's GREAT!!  5 lbs in a week is hard to do!  23 since Christmas is very impressive - YOU GO GIRL!!!  lol

my doctor sent a request to MSI about me going out of province and they said he wan't qualified to make the request it had to come from a specialist so i don't know who else would specialize that could refer me out of province other than people i was referred to how confusing is that!

Newbie here so can you tell me where in Nova Scotia the do any and what operations?  where is this DR ELLSMERE at?  handsome and smart hummm a girl can dreamm LOL  but on the serious side how long is the waiting list once referred?
