Does anyone do Roux-n-Y gastric bypass in Halifax?

Hi.  My son is  having gastric bypass in Toronto and returning to Halifax - he is at Dalhousie.  I am wondering if there is a doctor who can provide follow-up in case he needs to see a specialist.  Can anyone provide information for us?

I know that the bypass is not done in NS, but it used to be ... surley to heaven there must be someone that can follow up. If I was you, I would contact Diana Lawlor through the QE11's site and see if she can shed any light or offer any suggestions.

Her email is: [email protected]

Hopefully that is at least a starting point. The other option might be to try to have his surgeon refer him to someone in NS. Just a thought.

Best of luck!

I don't have any suggestions for doctors, but I do know there is a support group in Halifax that your son may benefit from - there is so much to learn about how & what to eat after weight loss surgery that having others who have also have surgery to help you gives you a huge advantage...  The Next Self-Help Meeting will be at Sackville Sobeys on Monday December 13th 7-9pm.   Hope this helps, Angie
