How did you get your surgery costs covered?

I'm just wondering what you guys had to go through to get your surgery covered. How long did you have to wait to see if they would cover you, and how long was the wait for your surgery?

People in other provinces are getting their surgery costs paid for when they go out of the province for DS surgery (because they don't do the DS in most provinces), and my surgeon handles the work. But it appears the process is much more complicated for me here in NS, and MSI said they don't even want to hear from my surgeon. Very annoying. I feel like NS is getting ripped off.

I think that the only surgery they are covering these days through MSI is the vertical sleeve done here in NS.

Hi Lizzzie,

I was self pay for my surgery with Dr. Aceves in Mexico.    My understanding was that MSI does not cover anything except the surgery done in Halifax and there is currently a  7 year wait list.

It might be worth it to move to another province for a bit. ;)
