Halifax and Area Weight Loss Support Group Meeting

Good Monday Morning, boy is it cold here today!!!! BRRRRRRR

If you are interested in joining a Support Group in HRM- we will be having a meeting in February.

This group will be open to all pre- op patients, those who have had weight loss surgery and certainly anyone who is contemplating surgery. You dont have to be in HRM to belong- all our welcome!

I know I have chatted online with a few people and I have told a few of you that I was trying to reach the lady whose name I was given by the Halifax Clinic . Diana Lawlor told me that this lady would be organizing a patient run support group. I have not heard back from her yet.

So looking ahead - I have about 6 people who have contacted me - so lets get this party started! LOL

I will make arrangements for a February meeting - if you respond on this forum and are interested in attending a meeting - please just indicate if you prefer a night time meeting or weekends.
 
Nothing has to be set in stone right now but it will just give me an idea on how we can get the most turnout for the first meeting.

Welcome to the group. Nice to see another smiling face.

You might have your setting on your profile on private as I can not access it and pm you . Change your setting so I can add you to my friends. I live in HRM but mostly post on the Ontario and NB forums as they are much more active- hopefully we bluenosers can change that about the NS board - there should be enough of us around to get this forum much more active.

Hello there,

I was wondering how long it took you from referral to consult with Dr Ellsmere?

Also from consult (Information session) to surgery?

I was told by his office, that he now has well over 1000 referrals and is trying to see 200 patients per year....so that is in the range of Dr. B in Moncton now.  ARGHH!!

Anyway.....just gathering information.

I had a referral to Dr. Ellsmere in January 2008, but had been on Dr. MacDonald's list since 2002.  I attended the information session in October 31st 2008, had the appointment(s) with the team in November and had surgery on the 18th of December.

Once you see Dr. Ellsmere, the process can be quite quick.

The meeting is Saturday Feb 21st at 1:00 pm location will be announced.
