Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!

I started with baking today for the first time since starting my program in April. Thank goodness the pumpkin bran muffins with raisins are "healthy". The apple streusel cheesecake squares are my treat for tomorrow then the rest are being given away.

Tomorrow's turkey dinner will be a challenge but we're not having potatoes or gravy so that temptation is gone. I have made homemade cranberry sauce (cranberries, dates, apple and some water). My one indulgence will be low sodium stove top stuffing. But I only bought one box so there won't be lots of it for me and hubby. Carrots, sweet potatoes and butternut squash casserole will be our side dishes. Lots of orange...so lots of good stuff for us!

Good advice to have the bottle of water handy and to eat slowly. Put that fork down between bites! It really does work.

Enjoy the weekend! And don't beat yourself up if you fall off the wagon. Go for a nice walk and enjoy the fall colours.

Well I already know that this weekend will be tough to stay on track. Dinners and b day parties started yesterday. Food everywhere. My goal for this weekend is to keep water handy at all times, make sure I get my breakie smoothie in and be mindful of what I put in my mouth at gatherings. Another good practice would be to eat slow. Starting tomorrow my hubby starts holidays for 10 days we will be completely off our routine. Hoping to get a couple of end of the season bike rides in. Have a great weekend all. Deb

Welcome! You've come to a good spot. Like Deb said, there aren't many of us on this forum but we are supportive. The first few days are the toughest, aren't they? Good for you on giving up the Coke. Substitute it with water as a super new habit. If you find the water too bland, try adding Crystal Light or my favourite, Mio.

We do a regular weigh-in on Wednesdays and there is usually a post from someone on the weekend as we struggle with the unstructured weekends...they're just not as easy as the weekdays.

Hope to see you on here regularly.

Hi there welcome to the OH forum. You will find plenty of tips and support here. This particular board is not super busy but I have found tips and support here. I try to follow a Volumetrics (high fiber low fat) type of diet and exercise. I set my weight loss goals small and strive to reach them. Good for you for giving up the coke cola that should help. Please feel free to share anytime. Deb

Hi all congrats on your loss Tammy. This is my PMS week so according to my scale I have gained 5lbs grr
Last week 245.2
This week 250.2
I haven't been following my plan the best this wk and no exercise because of back issues. I think a lot the gain is water. Back to basics for me.

Hello. I am new to the Obesity Help site, but hoping to find some support from any of you on a weight loss journey. If nothing else, just someone to talk to when I am fighting the urge to grab a Coca-Cola. I am only on Day 2, and wow so much harder than Day 1.  I am doing ok with the food part (I think). I have started a Weight Loss Challenge on my facebook and have a blog, but not a lot of support coming in.
I have gained 62 lbs since a medical issue started last October, and after thousands in DR appts including the Mayo Clinic, no answers were found. Now i am on my own!
Tips are appreciated!!!

Hi Win, I have my most difficult times in the weekends too. Seems I get hungrier on Fridays and it sticks around until Mondays. I think it's head hunger, change
In routine & sometimes boredom for me. Or it's the I'll start my diet on Monday mentality. Also most social activities are on weekends and time with others usually = food. I had to shop today and I swear I could hear the pumpkin pies calling out take me home and eat me. Lol lol I left those pies on their shelf and treated myself to a pricey bag if cortland apples (my fav) instead. Hang in there Blue I will be thinking of you! Treat yourself to a fav healthy item. Why are weekends so much harder than during the week?  I've been busy doing things but it seems everytime I pass by the kitchen all I can think about is something to snack on.  I don't think I can drink anymore water.

I have to cook this afternoon because I have meals planned for next week that need to be done today.  My schedule for next week is pretty busy not to mention next weekend is Thanksgiving.  I sometimes think the shorter days and cooler weather send my body into hibernation mode.

I have some shopping to do too but I don't want to go the mall because of all the temptations (given the current mood I'm in).
