Ice cream is our biggest down fall. Last few nights we have been eating a lot of raspberries. He likes apple crisp too. That I can do low sugar. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks

I saw my small town medical internist today. I just love him! He is older gent and very "old school". Got results of my colonoscopy and everything is fine. I have been ping ponged around to a number of specialists lately and quite frankly getting tired of it. As a Canadian I am very grateful for our health care coverage, but see a lot of over lapping and waste of resources. I digress... Anyway I have been polling the different specialists I have seen about WLS. Today I asked old Dr F what he thought and he said Debbie dear you are not big enough. At 250 lbs not Big Enough! Did I mention that I love Lovelove this old guy! Seriously though we did chat about it. He feels that it should be the procedure of last resort for the super obese. Told me that his patients that have gone that route are unhappy and have many serious after affects. Problems almost always develop with the bowels, stomach and endocrine systems. He is going to continue to treat me and my co-morbids. Not big enough! Priceless! Made my day. Awesome NSV!

Most of my weight was in my tummy and thighs.  I was well distributed actually and often heard "you can't weigh that much!"  But I did.   My arms are loose as well but I am not ready to live with the scars.  I get a lot of compliments on how toned they are but boy do the flap when I am brushing my teeth!  I could probably use some work in the back but I hope what I have had done resolved some of extra skin that migrated back there.

My thighs don't feel too awful. Actually so much of the area is suprisingly numb.  I am cut from the front of the pubic area, through the groin, and slightly into the butt crease.  I was also cut vertically about six inches down....I would not have gone to my knee but that is my own vanity and thankfully he never recommended to the knee but just up high.  I think my lift chair has helped since it will dump me out.  The most painful part has been the drains in the thighs....and sitting on hard (like toilet) surfaces.  Those are the butt crese incisions....otherwise I feel pretty groovy painwise.  The emotional roller coaster is still running wild though....

Thanks for the tip! I am pretty close to goal, my goal is not concrete though, and I fluctuate in my weight by 4 or 5 lb's up and down, the last 20 something pounds have been the hardest and slowest to come off, however I continue to lose size. I always carried most of my weight in my hips thighs and butt, at my largest I was wearing a sz 28 in pants today I am wearing a sz 14 in pants, in Shirts I was in a 3xl and today most of my shirts are M or L in dresses before I was in like a 24 and now I am in a 12.... How do your thighs feel? that is where I really need the most work done, however that is where I am dreading recover the most!

. I actually live in a rural area of Wyoming. My surgery was done in Salt Lake City, UT. Are you close to goal? The surgeon I went to works with a bariatric office. There are several down there that do. If I may, get in the best shape of your life....I have no idea how anyone who isn't in top notch shape can make a recovery from this!

Total body lift, arms, legs, lbl, breast lift without implants (but with reshaping)..... I am glad you are doing well in your recovery! What area do you live in? I am in So. CA and I know surgeons in this area can be pretty pricey!

Hi Stacie I just wanted to say welcome to the forum. I too thought about having WLS but I decided against it. I have read a few success stories and a few tragic stories re WLS. I also realized it wouldn't help the head hunger, emotional eating, cravings or addiction to certain foods. I am 49 lbs done from my highest weight just a few short years ago, and trying to lose more. I have had some health probs and the #s on the scale keep fluctuating by about 4lbs in up and down. Been moving more recently and overall feeling a little better. Anyway again welcome! Deb

Recovery is going well. I am in a good place today but emotionally I have been all over the place! I had a tummy tuck, medial thigh lift, and a breast lift/augmentation. I was also a cash pay. Both my husband and I were surprised at the cost and had expected it to be more. I don't know if it is correct or not but I paid 15k (including one night in a surgical center). My ps has more than 30 years experience and so far I am delighted in the work (well after I had my husband take pictures of me today so I could go before/after/before/after when times got rough today.). I will also warn there are other things....meds...dressings....I bought a lift chair for $200.....

What are you hoping to have done?
