After I woke up today, I became devastated after I’d weighed myself. I was at 308 pounds, making my BMI 60.1,( I’m only 5’0” tall) making it a 6 pound increase from my last dr. office visit
a little over 5 weeks ago. I had started eating more fruits and vegetables and drinking more water but everything was turned around this past weekend. I went to several bbqs and picnics
with friends and family and spent most of Monday on the couch watching tv.
I thought I could lose weight on my own and avoid or at least delay getting wls. This weekend was a setback. I would give anything to lose at least 100 pounds without surgery. I’ve attended
Weigh****cher groups before but most of the other women only had 20 or 30 pounds to lose
and many seemed to reach their goals in 5-6 months. I’ve got a real serious amount I need to
lose. Is it even possible to lose 100 pounds without surgery?
I’d like to meet other who face similar weight loss challenges and hope to at least lose some of it without surgery.
I lost10# without surgery once.mgained it alle bck with some its friends tagging along.
if you COULD, lose weight without surgery why haven't you already? Cause you can't? That question needs to be. Answered first. If I CAN do it,what am I waiting on,what is taking me so long to do it?
i knew I wanted a permanent resolve of my obesity andahveotten that, maintaining my loss for Over 5 years .
Hi Nadine
I notice that you keep track of what you eat by writing it down. That is great what you measure you can improve. You have stairs you have to climb, start keeping track how many times you use them throughout the day and aim to increase that. As you get better at that you can add other movements, and eventually start building an exercise routine.

Has anyone considered esophogeal stents? Are they available in teh US yet? Dr Randal Baker seems to have invented it for weightloss with great success. While it is invasive, it is not surgical.
Thanks

Hi Nadine! I can so relate to your post. I had rny and after 6 years started gaining the weight back. WLS is a great tool but it is only the start of a lifelong journey of weight and health management. I can help you with an awesome program that I have used to take off the regain. Sometimes I believe that if I had done this program before wls, I would not have had it! Message me...I would love to share!

I have just started tenuate. I think that is what it is called. It is prescription. I need to lose weight or I need the surgery said my dr to me today. So far I have zero appetite. But I need to workout too. I doubt I'll lose much weight in 3 months though. Maybe 30 lbs. I have a lot more to go.
Hi Nadine! Would love to be your friend. I live in OK!
I went for the orientation and have seen the Nurse Practitioner for my initial appointment. I have not actually started the program yet but will be shortly. Have some initial appointments to get through. I have done many many hours of debating which route to go. Ultimately I will do surgery if I am not successful in doing this on my own. I figure I need to at least try hard one more time. I had already started doing my own thing since the beginning of the year and have been doing okay with that so I am hoping that this program will help me push along further. You are correct that if you do the Opti part of the program you have to pay for that out of your pocket. I am going to do the Lifestyle program which is 12 weeks. I figure 12 weeks is reasonable to see if I can do this on my own. I know how to eat right etc what I am looking for is more the mental aspects of this issue which I find you don't really get at a commercial program, at least not enough for me. My BMI is 47, I am 5" 5' and 284 pounds. I have been doing some hard and fast thinking on this and figure I can wait a little bit longer so I can ensure that I am making the right decision. Surgery is a big step and I want to be sure first. I will keep you posted as to how this works but nothing is going to hurt to at least sign up for the information session and see if it is for you or not. You can always say no. I specifically asked them if after doing this program and decide I still want surgery can I still do it and they said yes that is always an option. Good Luck.
There is some cost involved. You pay for the Optifast shakes from what I am told. This was something that the social worker mentioned during our consult. In my mind you are off setting the cost of groceries, so it's basically a wash.
How did your consult go? How much weight are you looking to loose? I am 5'9", 250lb, 37 BMI and would like to try the medical weight loss route before going to surgery. Although I am feeling a lot of pressure from the professionals I have met thus far to have the RNY surgery.
I'm having a hard time making the decision.
Best of luck!
