Congratulations on your success with the pills. I wish they had worked for me but I am scheduled for the sleeve in 11 days and both excited and nervous. By the way I had "occasional sleep apnea" when I was younger and only weighed 108 pounds which makes me think there is more to it than weight!

Great Job!  Unfortunately, we don't have a strong group in my area.  Feel more depressed coming out than when I went into a meeting.

I'm doing my 6 month insurance requirement and my physician has me using Contrave which is an anti-narcotic mixed with a chill pill.  It has allowed my to control my triggers and I can actually say no when a craving hits.  Grazing also cut down.  Trick will be sustaining and not yo-yo'ing back up as I don't plan to stay on this forever.  Plus side for now is my A1C went from 10 to 5.7.  For some reason my sleep apnea gets worse as I lose weight.  Doc said I'm keeping the CPAP regardless of what weight I reach.

Topic: Struggling with food addiction/compulsive eating?

I had the VSG in 2011. Lost 230 lbs or so. Got down to a weight I could have been happy at. But I struggled with my eating and even though I changed my life style, I couldn't stop eating. I ended up gaining about 70 lbs. I freaked out though and decided I needed serious help. I tried therapy and diets and an eating disorder program and they all failed.

But then I found Overeaters Anonymous. It has been  miracle and has honestly caused such a change in me and my eating. I've been off sugar and flour for 30 days and haven't engaged in any compulsive eating. It feels so much different than any diet I've been on.

My sleeve still works. My nutrition knowledge is still there. If I use what I have, I'll be successful. I managed to drop 18 lbs my first 30 days which was awesome.

My endo prescribed all of them for me. The last one was qysemia(sp). We even tried it twice. Medication was not working for me because I think I expected it to do all the work for me. Since I am prediabetic, have heart disease in my family, high Trig, sleep apnea my doctor said that the only thing that will work now is surgery. I refused at first until I went to a seminar put on by Dr Jos. Cheblis. The pros far outweighed the cons. I am having a vsg on the 27th and am on a 4 week diet of 30 grams of protein  or less per day to shrink my fatty liver. I am doing well with my control and look forward to the operation. I can do it now that I realize I need to do my part.

Topic: RE: anyone ever have Orbera procedure?

doing it for weight loss, high blood pressure.   One girl I know had it put in on Friday and she has been vomiting since then. :(

She didn't even need to lose weight and I am really surprised they did the procedure for her but she paid cash and had high blood pressure.  Not overweight at all in my opinion but if you go by the BMI charts, it sounds like even skinny people are over weight.  RIDICULOUS!

I had the lap band in 08 and it slipped in 10 and I gained my 70 pounds back within the year.   That is what makes me wonder about this procedure because they put it in for 6 months and take it out so I would think you would gain it all back pretty quickly.  They say you learn how to eat during those 6 months but that didn't happen to me with lap band and I had it two years.

several people around here in South GA have had it.  I'm thinking about it (after I hear how they do with it).
