Topic: Food for Thought
I could relate to this.....I used to sabotage my weight loss. I'm glad I recognized it and worked on it so I overcome it.
Thought I'd share this wih you....
Shedding Light On Ourselves
Parts That Don’t Want To HealWhen we choose that which is not best for us, there can be a deep seated part of us that does not want to heal.
In almost every case, we know what is best for us in our lives, from the relationships we create to the food we eat. Still, somewhat mysteriously, it is often difficult to make the right choices for ourselves. We find ourselves hanging out with someone who leaves us feeling drained or choosing to eat fast food over a salad. We go through phases where we stop doing yoga or taking vitamins, even though we feel so much better when we do. Often we have no idea why we continue to make the less enlightened choice, but it is important that we inquire into ourselves to find out.
When we choose that which is not best for us, the truth can be that there is a deep seated part of us that does not want to heal. We may say it’s because we don’t have the time or the energy or the resources, but the real truth is that when we don’t take care of ourselves we are falling prey to self-sabotage. Self-sabotage happens unconsciously, which is why it’s so difficult to see that we are doing it. The important thing to realize is that this very part of us that resists our healing is the part that most needs our attention and love. Even as it appears to be working against us, if we can simply bring it into the light of our consciousness, it can become our greatest ally. It carries the information we need to move to the next level in our healing process.
When we recognize that we are not making healthy choices, we might even say out loud, “I am not taking care of myself." Sometimes this is the jolt we need to wake up to what is actually happening. Next we can sit ourselves down in meditation, with a journal, or with a trusted friend to explore the matter more thoroughly. Just shining the light of our awareness on the source of our resistance is sometimes enough to dispel its power. At other times, further effort is required. Either way, we need not fear these parts that do not want to heal. We only need to take them under our wing and bring them with us into the light.

I am proud I went to heath club twice this week so far and loving the good workouts I am getting in! DVDs can't replace a good gym workout!

SHER RRIE! How are ya darlin'!
Yea yea yea... we all need to be accountable. I need to be here all the time instead of coming when I'm at wits end.
I'm in limbo. After I hit 221.8... in two days it was back up to 226.. This morning it was 222 and David is NOW doing the low carb with me. I'm eating probably 1/2 of what he eats and he's losing, I'm stuck.
I don't think it's fair that just because a certain group of people have a dooder that they should lose easier than women do. It's not fair.. I don't like it.. and there's no one to complain to about it. I HATE the fact that men think "Oh.. well.. you must be eating more".. NOOOOOOOOO I'm NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.. but YOU have a dooder.. I DON'T! pffffffffffffffffffft hhahahahhaha
Be Blessed Sherrie!

i will be joing ww next wednesday, there's one leader that i really like and she's on wednesday, but i have to wait until next week because i had already paid the hospital, which maxed out my cc, so now i have to wait until they get the money back to me, or payday, whichever comes first!! portion control has always been my problem, and because i get to eat real food, that's why i like ww so much. have you joined yet? we should post on our weigh in days!!

I am celebrating being back under 210. I hung out around 216 for a month and it was tough to get back into the game. This morning I'm 208.3, and that gives me hope and impetus to continue. I have to figure out some kind of reward for getting back under 200. That's exciting!
I am proud of the fact that I have stuck to an eating plan that is healthy for me and that my body is responding to. I am proud that I am finding alternates to the carbage that I often crave. I am proud that I am trying new recipes and forming new habits.
And I am thankful for this board and the reminder to focus on the positives. :)

I'm proud that I resisted temptation today and stuck to my eating plan. It was a real struggle but I had a mental battle with myself and told myself that I would just have to do without the food that I was craving. I remembered what Yoda said "do or do not, there is no try" so it's either I'm going to do this or I'm not and I have to make the decision. I also took the stairs instead of the elevator today, boy was I out of breath!! Took me a while to recover but I'm still alive.
