Topic: New here. Was supposed to have VSG yesterday...cancelled it...
I was not feeling peace about it at all. It didn't feel like the normal nerves you get before surgery, it's hard to explain. So I cancelled it and the surgeon wants to see me in three months to see how I'm doing and re-evalutate.

I want to try one last time on my own to adapt to a new lifestyle for myself and know FOR SURE I did everything I can on my own before having surgery.

I hope to make new friends here as I sure could use help and encouragement and would love to be there for others as well.

Good luck to everyone!!

-Amie

Topic: Down 9.5lb for the month of June!!
My goal for June was 10lb, but I will certainly take 9.5!!

Have been weighing on the Daily Weigher Thread of Low Carb Friends and it has really helped me stay accountable on a daily basis in between WW weigh-ins.....very helpful!  (for this person who's addicted to the scale twice/day)

Have lost over 20lb now since I started WW on 4/26 and while the first 10lb came off that first week, it's been a real struggle ever since.  Have finally upped my activity level and working out consistently with an hour of water aerobics 3x/week followed by another half hour of water walking.  I find this so relaxing.

Next goal is the 250's (haven't seen them in 10YEARS) and my 10%.  I'm really feeling motivated this time and love that my clothes just keep getting bigger and bigger....have already gone down two sizes in pants (24W-20W) and even fitting into some of my old 18W's.

Off to the Y for water aerobics, but had to share my good news!!

Topic: RE: The good, the bad and the ugly - what a day I had yesterday

Why does that always happen?  Just when we want to look our best we end up with a zit or stitches or a black eye.  }:-)  Sometimes, life just ain't fair.  I hope you had a good time and that you ended up knocking their socks

That hernia situation really is a good news/bad news thang!  Yay, insurance is going to pay for your panniculectomy.  I don't want to be a downer but from what I remember being on the plastics board is that the hernia repairs were painful.  I never had any pain with my incisions because my doc deadened everything during surgery and the incisions were not below the muscle.  With the hernia repair, they do cut into you so you may want to ask your doc what he can do to minimize the pain.  It never hurts to ask, no?  ;-)

Glad to hear that you have enough tissue left so you don't need implants.  Ooo la la, you have a butt augmentation in your future.  Girl, you gonna have T & A at YOUR age!!!  You're gonna love it.

LOL, yes we are different from WLS patients.  We don't need tons of extra protein after surgery, although upping a little helps with healing.  We also usually don't have the issues with low iron that they do.

I hope your bobo has healed by now and congratulations on finding a surgeon who sounds like he knows what he's doing.  I'm so excited for you, Girlee!

Topic: RE: Where is everyone now that summertime is here?
I just came back from vacation, spent a week in Myrtle Beach. Had a great time. Vacations are typically a challenge for me eating wise- you tend to eat so much crap. My rule of thumb was I needed to try and make one healthy decision with each meal. So sometimes it was drinking water with my meal, ordering  grilled options, etc. I tried to exercise during the trip but the equipment in the hotel gym was CRAP.

My WI day is usually Friday and I missed it last week and am somewhat anxious about WI this week. I'll head back to he gym in the morning... my eating is pretty much back on track- well except for the b-day my husband insisted on baking for me :-0

I'm glad i came on and read some posts- it'll help jump start me back into the swing of things.

Topic: Persevere.

Persevere.

Some days you wake up feeling tired or distracted. You just don't have the time or energy to follow your regimen at that moment. So, you skip breakfast, or eat that slice of cold pizza that you righteously avoided the night before. Days of discouragement shouldn't surprise you. They are reminders that food will always be complicated -- either a comfort or a distraction.

The key to real change is perseverance. When you take a misstep, for whatever reason, know that you will continue to persevere in your journey. You will start over at the next meal--you will overcome the temptation next time. That is how you'll succeed. Being perfect just isn't going to happen. So persevere.

Action for the day: No matter where you are in your recovery, today you will persevere. Start over every time you stray from your plan. Start over as often as necessary.
