wow! you guys have both done great! Sandi, what specific wii-fit exercises did you do that you liked and worked well? I know there are more games I can buy, but I'd like to buy one that has been recommended! Also, did you guys follow any specific eating plan or just try to eat more sensibly and cut down? That's what I'm trying to do - eat less and move more! I figure if I can lose 1 pound a week, that's 52 in a year and some lap-banders don't even get that. I think I've always been so caught up in losing big numbers really fast (which NEVER happened) that I got discouraged and gave up. If I just keep going, I will lose and I won't gain it back!! Thanks for your support - I'm really gonna need it. Yes, the Lord is my main strength and without Him, I can't do it. Blessings, Stacy

I think that is a great plan! I love the Wii Fit (as you can see from my name and avatar)! I have lost over 100lbs using Wii Fiti for my cardio exercise. I weighed in once a week then when I hit goal I weighed in every two weeks and I still do that. The only exception in when I have been recovering form my plastic surgeries. Then I didn't weigh in until I could see the swelling had gone down. I'm excited for you and I wish you the very best on your journey to a healthier you! God bless you.

I'm going to start weighing every Saturday morning to give myself some accountability - and report it to you all - that's even better accountability!!  I'm new to the board - on my way to WLS and decided it's not for me, at least not yet.  I admit the surgery is very scary to me and  maybe I'm a chicken, but maybe that will motivate me. So, I weigh 261 on my bathroom scale which is not very reliable, and 253 on the wii-fit which has been more accurate, so that's what I'm going with (plus I like that number better!:)  I will try to get a ticker soon - when I get to a computer with faster internet.  I'd also like to keep track of my exercise and report that.  I need to do at least 5 hours a week.  I did get at least that this last week.  I hope somebody out there will partner with me (the more the merrier!).  Here's to a great week!

Topic: Make it a Habit.
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." -- Aristotle

Make It a Habit
Personal improvement, whether it’s weight loss or fitness, is about creating or losing a habit. It shouldn't be thought of as a short-term event. People diet until they lose 20 pounds, and then stop the smart eating and exercise strategies that got them there. Once they reach their goal, they go back to the way they lived before and wonder why the weight comes back. For permanent change, habits need to stick around for the long run. With repetition and time, a single action will seem habitual. Once it becomes a habit, it becomes part of who you are, and the transformation is complete.

Thanks for that Leather.

I give her props for losing 100 plus lbs.  She's more woman than I am.  I needed WLS and we're about the same weight now and I wasn't 385 to start with.  I still think WW should leave her alone.  She's done better than many of them, at my meeting anyway.  There's one lady there who is a customer service person (what ever you call the people who weigh you and take your money) who boasts about the 26 lbs she lost 5 years ago.  She wears a size 6 now.  She's also one of the people who tried to counsel her on why she needs to make it to 125.  Come on now, let's be realistic here.  How is someone who's top weight was 25 lbs over goal going to counsel someone who was almost 400?  Maybe I'm too passive or too much of a softie or an enabler in this area.  That's why I posted the question.  I needed another opinion.  Thanks for your input.

Wow! Thanks Mollie.  If she continues to come to meetings I will tell her.  Who knew you could get so much information from posting a question?!

I totally agree Skylar. For me the most important thing was to decide that I was worth a different life. To want more for myself. Figuring out why I was fat, and receiving healing in those areas is to key to never returning there. I also don't pressure myself like I used to. I am a new person and I live like one. I try to see myself through God's eyes and not the world's view of perfection. Also,  I'm no longer chained to a bad relationship with food.I used to hate it, now I see it as a way to keep my body nourished and healthy. I love the new me. I am so grateful!

Don't overreact to overeating.

So, you've made a small blunder in your diet. Treat it as a small blunder.

When you make a misstep, do not then give in to the temptation to throw in the towel all together. Just say, "Oops," and then do the next right thing. The mistake is not as important as what you do in response to it. Chalk up the incident to being human, forgive yourself, and jump right back on track.

Action for the day: Whenever you find yourself straying from your new healthy lifestyle, pause and ask yourself, "What is the next right thing to do?" Then, do it.

Topic: Food for thought - habits of thin people.
1. Naturally thin people eat only when they are hungry. Naturally thin people eat according to their hunger level. If they are not hungry, they may order a huge meal and only have a bite or two that satisfies their hunger. Or, if they are extremely hungry, they may eat everything on their plate.

2. Naturally thin people eat the foods they love. It is true; naturally thin people choose the foods that are delicious to them. Whether it''s a hamburger or delicious salad, naturally thin people do not attach emotions to the food.

3. Naturally thin people may only eat dessert. Have you ever gone to a restaurant, you look over the menu and all you really want is the fudge brownie for dessert? But because you don''t want to look "fat" you order a meal first and then order the dessert. Yet, by the time you want dessert you''re totally stuffed. Yuck!! Naturally thin people may go to restaurants with the sole purpose getting their favorite dessert.

4. Naturally thin people love doggy bags and have no problems throwing away food. These thin thinkers understand that extra food is extra food. They can either throw it into their trash or throw it away their bodies.

5. Naturally thin people stay tuned into their bodies. Naturally thin people stay in touch with their bodies despite whatever may be circulating around them. They may be out with friends, having a few drinks and appetizers, and still, when it comes to food, they stay connected and typically don''t overeat.

6. Naturally thin people don''t use food for social protection. Naturally thin people are just as uncomfortable at times in social situations. The difference is that they don''t pop chips in their mouths out of nervousness.

7. Naturally thin people have made a practice of saying "no" to food. People living naturall thin are extremely comfortable saying no when food is offered and they are not hungry. Common phrases from this extraordinary group of thin people include: "no," "no thank you," "I''m fine, you go ahead," "maybe later." Food to them is physical more then emotional or psychological so when they are done, they are done.
