Topic: RE: Diet Pills
Hi!

I think all pill diets will have these side effects. Personally I have never done one and I prefer to sitck to other ways of dieting. I feel all related to pills is a bit unhealthy, but that is just my simple opinion. I had a friend that tried also a pill diet (don´t remember each, I´ll ask her latter) and she was fine with it. As soon as I find it out I´ll post it. Good luck meanwhile in finding something!

Topic: RE: HCG Diet, Anyone?
25 years ago, when I was 25, I was on an HCG diet (iInjections) and was able to easily stick to a 500 calroie diet. In fact, i wasn't hungry. It was expensive and I missed the social side of eating so I was only on it for a few weeks. Don't know that it had any side effects give the brief time I was on it.

Now I weigh a lot more than I did then.

I think you're right, that a nutritionist is probably a good place to start. Maybe your primary care practitioner can give you a referral. Otherwise, try your public health unit and see if they know how you might find one.

Molly, I'm curious about how many calories you eat.  Is it metabolic issues for you?

Check this out, it is a calculator to show how many calories you need to maintain your weight and how many you need to lose weight.

This forum doesn't seem to be very active.  I am new and I am wondering if maybe I should try posting in a different one.

Topic: What is wrong with me?
I recently posted (although I don't remember in which forum) about the possibility of having hypoglycemia.  Well today I had that weak and shaky feeling before lunch time and I tested my blood sugar and it was 64, which is lower than normal.

Then later in the evening I went to dinner at a restaurant.  I had 2 small tacos and a cheese enchilada, and a bunch of chips and salsa before that.  I ate until I was full, at the point where if I ate any more I would become uncomfortable.

After leaving the restaurant, I made a stop for no more than 10 minutes, and then drove home.  When I got home I thought I felt hungry again, but it had been less than an hour since I ate dinner.

I take psychiatric meds, and I forgot to take them in the morning when I was supposed to, so I took them when I got home from dinner.  I am wondering if missing that dose of my meds caused my body to mess up my hunger signal, or if it was something that I ate or what.  I know this can't be normal.  I almost felt like crying because I didn't know what was wrong with me.

I plan to make another appointment with my doctor tomorrow, and insist on more tests.  When I tried bringing up the issue last time, she kind of brushed it off.  In the meantime, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this.

Before I had the low blood sugar at lunch time, I had eaten a big bowl of steel-cut oatmeal with fruit and pecans for breakfast.  Honestly, I don't even know what I should be eating.  I thought whole grains are supposed to be good for you.  I even made sure to eat those nuts so I would get some protein, too.  Should I be cutting way back on carbs in general?  I should probably see a nutritionist as well, although I don't know how to find one.  At this point I am not even trying to lose weight, but that will be the next step.

Topic: Diet Pills
Has anyone had success with diet pills?   The only one I know of is Orlistat (Alli/Xenical), but the side effects scare me.   Are there any others available in the US?

Hey there Chris, wow..you look great!  I hardly come here either anymore, but I do glance once in a while to see if it's active again.  Eight pounds away eh?  You are just bookin' on that weight loss! I'm so glad that you are well and healthy and enjoying life! :)

I have to disagree with you on the fact that everyone treats you the same when you are thinner.  Maybe it's more of a gender thing??  I have a feeling it is.  When I lost a hundred pounds before I noticed a BIG difference on how I was treated.  Sort of sad eh that it effects genders so much.  Guess that goes by saying that it's still a mans world! Unfortunately that is..lol

I start a class next week.  I'm excited about it, something new I've never tried.  It's actually a class on eating, not on nutrition itself. So I'm ecstatic about it, about time they offered something like that.  Most of us obese people already know how to eat right, it's all the rest of the problems that we get in trouble with!  So I'm praying this is my answer.

I would say good luck on losing the last eight pounds, but well...we know it's in the bag! ;) hehe  Your lookin' awesome.

Loving my fobi!  Though my surgeon calls it the vertical banded RNY.  I fought for the DS for 2 years and finally gave up after losing $1500 with the DS surgeon. I had my RNY approved, scheduled and completed in under 4 months with a different surgeon.
