Just what's been happening
I thought I would just share what's been happening, instead of posting my food. Monday night while I was preparing dinner I had a terrible accident. I had just finished preparing brown rice in boiling water, the rice being in a bag. I took out the bag, and placed it on my dish drainer. Then I was in a big hurry to put the pot in the sink, and had just poured out the boiling water over everything. I tried moving a plastic measuring cup with water in it, and discovered it was boiling water! I dropped it, splashing the boiling water all over my stomach and abdomen. I just screamed and screamed, and my cats ran out of the room! My husband quickly came in, and I showed him my terrible second degree burn, with some of my skin coming off. It hurt the rest of the evening, and I made the mistake of putting two knee bandages on part of it. The next morning, when I took them off, the skin came off with it. It bleed and seeped for days, and finally, on Thursday afternoon, I called my doctor. She didn't have an opening for me, but she recommended that I go to an emergency room. It was warm to the touch, and had blisters. I got treated at Parma Hospital ER, and they said I had both first and second degree burns, and they put a big dressing on it, and told me how to take care of it, and gave me a prescription for antibiotics, to keep it from being infected. I felt so stupid that it happened in the first place, and even stupider that I tried to take care of such a serious and large burn myself. I called off work last night, today, and for Monday.

Denise,
Oh my gosh! I am so sorry to hear about your terrible accident. I don't think ANYTHING is as painful as a burn. I can't imagine it on the tender skin of your tummy! I feel for you. I hope it heals quickly and without any problems. Take care of yourself. I will keep you in my thoughts.
Blessings,
Maren
Denise,
I am the queen of burns. I feel for you girl, I really do. Most recent burn story. I was microwaving some broccoli and I took it out of the microwave and took the plastic off right away. Well, let me tell you something. A steam burn is horrible!!! I watched as the skin seemed to melt off of my fingers. Took a good 4 weeks to heal. Was not pretty.
We women move much much too fast!!!! We truly need to slow down and take care of ourselves. How many times have we reached into the oven or to the stove without oven mitts on and grabbed something that instinctively we knew was hot, but just zoned out???
I hope you get better quickly. Don't feel stupid for trying to take care of it by yourself. We also tend to underestimate our needs!!!
