How do you keep going? how do you not give up ? I have giving up on every diet I have ever been on,I am so scared to start over again , but I know that I have to. I dont even know where to start anymore, I feel like I`ve given up even before I`ve even started. Cathy

Hi Kathy, I just read your profile and I think you are going thru a very difficult time. Can you get any help from a counselor to help you with grief management or maybe a local church? Losing a family member and having a child who is sick must be very difficult to handle all by yourself. Please take time to read the post from Want2bhealthier, she too has some of the same questions that you are asking But from one Type 2 diabetic to another, I wanted you to know that there is hope, that this disease can be managed. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me anytime. Good luck, Ann 306/208/130 Non-op

Ann, I have a Dr.appt. friday , it always helps to talk to him and his staff. I am at peace with my brothers passing ,at least right now. I do feel alot of guilt about my son and his depression and I will talk to my doctor about that, I guess its just a mom thing thinking I can prevent all bad things from happening to my child . Thank you for your reply. Ive been reading a lot of profiles from non posts today and maybe there is hope for me yet. Cathy

Cathy, I did it with one baby step at a time. One meal, one day, one week, and then it all added up. Please read my response to Want2beHealthier. It answers a lot of your questions as well. Good luck! Donna

Cathy, this might not be the time for you to try to lose weight. You need time to heal. I've struggled with depression all my life, and had a "breakdown" several years ago. I am much better, with the help of good therapists and the correct meds. Your son will get better, too. And yes, type II diabetes can be controlled. I got off diabetes meds after I had lost 75 pounds, and I've kept it under control with diet and exercise for more than two years. Best of luck. Kasey 365/210 (nonop)
