Found a good calorie guide!
Hey all my fellow Do-It-Yourselfers!!! You know when you're at work, and you take one of those little, bite sized candy bars, and assume it's just 25 or 30 calories?? We'll, lo and behold, we are SOOO wrong! This site, http://www.calorieking.com/foods/ is wonderful for looking up brand name items that we can't always find on the other nutrition sites. I'm finding that many of the nutrition sites give you the foods you SHOULD eat, not necessarily the foods we DO sometimes eat. So check into it. Don't join; who needs another weight loss club. Just use the search box for foods. It has the restaurants, snacks, and all really relivant information that we, that are watching calories, carbohydrates, or simply portion sizes, can benefit from.
Lynette, I think it was, sent me a wonderful site, too: http://www.dietfacts.com/list.asp It lists the restaurants and some of the better choices we can make. Talk about SHOCKING!! When I look up some of my favorites, I get weak in the knees at the calories and the fat!!! Because many of us do go out to eat, I hope it will help us make better choices, or at the very least, give us a realistic evaluation of the foods we are consuming...
One final site that I'm finding very useful as I begin watching my portion sizes and my calories is: http://www.nutritiondata.com/index.html This site let's you do food comparisons; basically you list a food, and it will give you tons of information on "fullness factor" or how long you'll stay full, and some comparable items that may stick you a little longer so you don't feel the need to eat so quickly. It's got some cool graphs that give you the visual to see where your choice fits, not only on the nutrional triangle, but vitamin/minerals, and other stuff we don't often think of. These three sites are the ones I'm sticking to. They have minimal babble and useless "join now" crap!
I hope you're all well, and were pleased by the winners of the Super Bowl. I can honestly say, I don't have a clue who played, but on my Yahoo opening page, I saw the winners, smiling and feeling great. I'm such a party pooper!!!
Be good all, and I hope this information helps! We're all in this together!!
