Driving with cake
Mary,
I have found some healthy alternatives if I haven't planned well. I have grabbed an apple or a water and I have found these amazing little peanut butter protein balls in the "gluten-free" aisle. I have to check the caloric content but I know they are all natural. Most of the time though I just don't grab anything, and sometimes I am pretty hungry!!!
But yes, the games we play with our heads.
Thanks for responding!
Donna
Kristin,
Ahhh I forgot the fast food places. I never did McDonalds, but Burger King was a favorite of mine. In the morning I would drive through on my 1/2 hour ride to work and grab those cinna-minis, TWO of the. Sheesh, they were ONLY 99 cents. For lunch I would go and order the two cheeseburger special or the DEEP FRIED chicken sandwich, with the fries of course. I do have to say I never ate a whole lot, I was never capable of consuming huge portions of food at one sitting. I just never stopped!!!!
Thanks for responding and keep up the good work. One small step at a time!!

Hi Joyce
I have heard of people doing this. Matter of facts, YEARS ago I had an aunt that used to do this, in front of people. I don't do that with food, because I just am a freak about controlling myself. That is going to come back and kick me in the a**, I know it. But I HAVE thrown away things that in the past would have been my "snack". I used to put the leftovers on the stove under the guise of putting them away later. I never did, I ate them all!!!!
Now I pack them up before we leave the table, and my boyfriend brings them for lunch. We NEVER had leftovers in my house before!!!
One day at a time, Joyce, you are doing great!!
Donna
Yay for you, Donna. Four more to go to get to 100 pounds. You've got to feel so proud of yourself. Yep, the car was always my eating closet. I'd have candy wrappers jammed in the glove compartment, bakery bags squashed up and jammed under my seat. Especially after I quit smoking. That was 19 months ago. I am about to hit the 40 pounds lost mark (I'm about 14 weeks into my food plan) and I have so much more to go, but....I always have sugar free, hard candy in the car and bottles of water. The hardest for me is to go to the bakery to buy bread for the family. I am absolutely addicted to bread, so I can't even eat a tiny piece. My son asked for a particular kind of bread for his birthday dinner and it killed me to walk into that bakery and not buy one of my old favorites..fresh soft pretzels, or Italian bakery pizza. But, I did it and felt so much better knowing I resisted the temptation....I also knew how disappointed in myself I would have been, had I caved in.
So, congratulations Donna. You've done yourself proud.
Take care,
Laurel
