Plastic Surgery
Hi All,
Everyday I swear, it seems like my skin is just melting off my bones. I know you have all heard it before, but really excercising does not help the extra skin issue at all.
Have any of you decided to have plastic surgery? Have any of you been able to get the insurance company to pay for it. I can't believe that they won't! They should try living with this extra skin, yuck.
I still have another 80 pounds to go, I can't image what it will be like then.
Thanks!

Hi Ann,
I have a consultation tomorrow. I don't think my insurance will pay because my skin does not hang down far enough. But I will be happy to get rid of the extra skin. I've done all I can do with diet and exercise. But when you loose 162 pounds, there is going to be some extra skin at my age.

Hi there Ann.
I have lost 102 pounds since this time last year, 92 of those since July 7. The rapid weight loss has definitely contributed to the sagging skin. I too have another 50 pounds to go and I panic when I think about the extra skin that will be there.
But I have to say, it is not as bad as I imagine it could have been. I don't know if it the exercise or the fact that my skin still had some elasticity (hard to believe). I do know that beneath the softer skin there are definitely muscles formed and still forming. Much of my skin has actually shrunk. Yes there will be issues. Inner thighs, upper arms, belly, mostly. And my boobs, oh lets just forget those!!!! Poor girls.
I am thankful, however, that there are no jowls, my neck isn't sagging. And I am thankful for losing 100 pounds, that is by far worth all the loose skin.
I can mail you a "plastic surgery" jar for the future!!!!

Hi Donna,
I would be most grateful if you would mail me the "plastic surgery" jar And you are right, I rather have the loose skin then the weight back any day!
Wow! 92 pounds from July 7th, "Way or should I say Weigh to GO". congratulations on your success. I look forward to reading your profile.

Hi Ann.
I am a gym junkie......... I workout 6 days a week.
I have lost a total of 138 pounds in a year. 5 pounds prior before I started my diet. At age 47, my loose skin is bad....... and I mean bad.................
I don't think my insurance would cover plastic surgery either, and I just hate the thought of having surgery, I guess that is why I did not go through with wls.
I am working out faithfully on the weight machines at the gym........ It is somewhat sad, that I cannot go to the beach and wear swim attire with this skin hanging like this. Oh well, I am going to continue to work on it.

Ann, I had a tummy tuck in August, during which the doc removed 10.2 pounds of skin. My insurance denied my claim, despite my PCP and plastic surgeon saying the procedure was medically necessary. So I paid for the procedure myself.
I hope to have my arms done this year, and possibly breast reduction. My plastic surgeon is more optimistic about my insurance paying for the breast reduction, but I'm not, so I'm saving up.
Best of luck.

Kasey,
You look amazing! I totally enjoyed your profile.
At worse, if I have to I will definately do something about my arms, even now they cause me to purchase bigger sizes. So...I guess I better start saving.
If it is not to personal to ask, why does the surgeon think the insurance will pay for the breast reduction??
