I'm considering one last attempt at diet and excercise. What do you re: L.A. Weightloss? How Much money? Their supplements? Excercise equipment? I guess basically I know nothing. If you've been in their program can you tell me about it? Thanks so much, Holly

I'm kind of neutral about LA Weightloss. I lost 52 pounds on it in 2001-2002, then I got into a very stressful situation and starting bingeing every day, and completely blew up on my weight loss. If you follow their rules exactly, you'll definitely lose. I found their rules kind of cumbersome, though. For instance, you couldn't eat a steak with a baked potato. I found myself eating the same things over and over in restaurants, which I found restrictive, after awhile. It cost me $364.00 for a year, which was paid all at one time, not weekly, as their ads mislead you to believe. Only Weigh****chers lets you pay weekly, if I'm not mistaken. It's possible they may have changed their diet, by now, or their costs, but this is the best I know. There is another non WLS member on this board who is following it. Perhaps she can give you more up-to-date information. Denise Phares

Hi, I've lost 162 pounds on LA Weight, and I think it is WONDERFUL! The price depends on how much weight you want to loose. It is comparable to WW. It is basically learning how to eat healthy. You eat two LA Lite Bars daily. They are protein bars that taste like candy. How great is that? Being able to loose weight and eat 2 candy bars a day. You can go for a free consultation, and they will discuss the program with you. I've started stablization, and I've already purchased 1 year of maintenance. Lynette

Hi Holly I did LA Weightloss as a last resort before I decided to go for gastric byspass surgery. It is extremely expensive depending on how much weight you need to lose. It cost me about $600.00 up front and the supplements cost about $90.00 a month. They give you one-on-one counseling and suggest that you use their supplements in order to speed up your weight loss. They give you a meal plan that is approved by an off-site nutritionist and depending on how much weight you have to lose and your medical condition you eat a certain amount of protein, carbs, fats and starches. In addition they have snack and meal replacements that they also recommend. Their counselors get a commission on how much stuff you purchase and each time you weigh in ( they recommend 3 times a week) they push their products on you. Because I was so desperate I bought a lot of stuff. I lost 40 pounds in about 8 months but after reaching a platau for 6 months I gave up. Some of the programs have a CURVES-type gym that you can sign up for at an additional cost. Bottom line - the program works but you have to have a lot of patience and money. It was the most weight that I lost on any other diet but I just couldn't maintain. I gained all of the 40 pounds back and then some in about a year. That's just me. It may work for you. Hope this helps, Queen
