True hunger or not?

Several months ago, I had gallbladders surgery and spent a night in the hospital. I remember the first thing they brought me to eat before I went home... Jello! Oh my gosh, I have always hated that wiggly giggly feeling on my tongue But I felt like I was starving to death since it had been at least 36 hours without food. So I tried the dreaded jello... it was so good! Funny how things taste so good when you are so hungry.
So I use this to test if I'm truly hungry or not. It sounds silly , but it really works for me. If I'm willing to slowly get the wiggly giggly stuff down and it tastes good, then I know it was real hunger. If I can't get it down, then I know that it wasn't true hunger and I stop eating. I have a big bowl of jello in the refrigerator just waiting
Do any of you have something like this that you use? Its interesting the things we come up with...
Have a great evening!
Want2be,
I figure whatever works is a good thing! I don't have anything like that but I do have a certain place that has to feel hungry before I "believe" I am really hungry. Sounds silly but I can get rumbles or what feel like hunger pangs in my abdomen or what I think of as my intestines. I have come to realize that (for me) those signals are not real hunger. When I get growling or discomfort higher up, right under that little tail thing at the end of my breast bone, then I know I am truly hungry.
The other thing that has surprised me is that I am rarely truly hungry. The amount of my "hunger" that is actually head hunger sometimes astounds me!!
Blessings,
Maren

I know the discomfort your taking about! The day I switched over to removing all processed sugar from my eating plan, I found that my real appetite had diminished greatly. Funny thing, when I did get really hungry, I got those same pains, but thought I was having a heart attack because it was up so high It really freaked me out at first, I didn't know if I should call 911 or if it was something to do with GERD So I took a Prilosec pill and ate something small, then it went away shortly after that.
I'm with you on the head hunger, didn't realize how often my mind tells me to eat, even after I had a meal... Oey!
Have a wonderful day
