My journey so far

Good morning ladies This morning I stepped on Satan (my scale) and I held my breath. I have been hovering around the numbers and have yet to hit them. At this time last year I was 352 pounds. I went on WW with my son and lost 27 pounds between January and April. When I went to my doctor on July 7 to beg him for WLS I weighed 342. I had managed to keep 10 of those 17 pounds off during the two months I was not "dieting". As you all know he didn't approve WLS but I did start again. Today I stepped on the scale and I was 252. I remember telling my boyfriend that I would be happy being 250, when I was 350. I am happy now, but I am not stopping. I posted on the post-op board to a person who had a question. When she wrote back to me she told me "your feelings will change once you have WLS." I am not going to write back to her. It's not necessary. To all of you out there who listen to the naysayers that tell you that you'll only gain it back, pay no mind. We have taken control of our lives and of our bodies and there is no way in the world we will welcome our past into our future. I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Hi Donna, You are doing great! I am so happy for you. WLS does not guarantee that the weight will not come back. At LA Weight Loss, someone who had WLS 3 years ago had joined because they had gained all their weight back. I think controlling our diets and exercising is by far the most healthy option. Take a look a People magazine. They just had a whole issue about people who had lost weight without surgery. And just look at the people on this board. We know it can be done! Lynette

Donna Congrats on making the Century Club It's so inspirational to read the success stories from fellow Non-Ops. It is so exciting! I refuse to listen to naysayers, the negativity makes me want to blow a fuse. Everyone has the ability to meet and attain their goals. It truly takes a lot of hard work, dedication and vigilance! naysayers Wishing you a wonderful day!

Thank you to everyone that responded. I find it uncomfortable at times to feel as if I am "bragging". I would much rather support someone and find the absolute amazement in their accomplishments. I have worked hard and I will continue to work hard. It can be done, I just pray it can be sustained!!!! Donna

Donna, congratulations! I am about where you were when you first started and I am just now attempting to get on a diet/ lifestyle change and am already feeling as if I am failing again. But when I read your profile, (and the profiles of some others) it gives me the will to keep trying. I think I may need to join a gym. Jamie
