VERY short vent
Muscle does NOT weigh more than fat!!!!!!!
There I feel better now.
To clarify as I understand it A pound is a pound is a pound. A pound of muscle takes up the space of 1 1/2 sticks of butter, a pound of fat takes up the space of 4 sticks of butter.
If I see one more time on the main boards that muscle weighs more than fat I will come back here to scream.
Thank you
Donna
Donna,
Playing devil's advocate here I think you just disproved your own statement. If "A pound of muscle takes up the space of 1 1/2 sticks of butter, a pound of fat takes up the space of 4 sticks of butter" then per square inch, muscle does weigh more than fat. Maybe that is what they are referring to when they make the statement.
By the way, thank you for your two precious posts this morning. Both of them served to inspire me and make me think.
Blessings,
Maren
Hi Maren
Yes I could confuse even myself if I tried hard enough!!!
Muscle is more DENSE then fat, and takes up less space by that measure. Think of a brick that weighs a pound and a pound of feathers. The feathers are bigger and take up more space, but the brick still weighs the same even though it is obviously smaller and takes up less space. That is what I am trying to say.
Scientific evidence welcomed.
