HI All!

I've been there and done it all!  What are my next steps?

Has anyone been prescribed a drug for weight loss?  Did it work?

Many Thanks!!

Hi there! I have been prescribed several different weight loss medicines and none of them have worked. The worst was adipex. It made my blood pressure sky rocket and gave me massive headaches. Mostly, what I noticed concerning the medicines and the programs I've tried, is that they worked while I was on them, but as soon as I came off of them the weight just piled back on.

Of course, everyone reacts differently to different things, but the medicines just weren't for me.

I hope things work out well for you!!!

Edited for typos.

A lot of people are having great success with Qsymia.  I was not one of them.  I lost maybe 10 lbs...Good luck!

Is the prescription or over the counter?

It's prescription only.  My endocrinologist prescribed it for me last year.  I also tried Belviq months before deciding on WLS.  Belviq did nothing for me.  At least the Qsymia made me feel not hungry all of the time.  The side effects were rough though - extreme constipation.  So get your Miralax ready if you're going to try it :)  Best of luck, Dawn!  xoxo

I was on a medical weight loss program at a clinic that prescribed Phentermine. I did lose some weight, but the efficacy of the pill only lasts a couple months, so when it wore off my appetite returned and so did the weight- plus some.

I've done several different pills...bottom line...I just ate around them!  They'd help a little, but in the long run, like others have said, just not effective.  Best of luck to you...but I've discovered (finally) is that you really do have to make a life style change (I hate that phrase!) and stop looking at food as a "pleasure" item.  You only need it to sustain yourself...not indulge all the time.  Only took me 60 years to figure it out!!

5'5" 64 year old; HW 219; SW 199; CW 129; GW 145ish (original)...now on to "ideal" (138)...got that...now a few spare (132)...got that one, too! Now for the 120's!! Made them...now for the "dream" weight...125! Well, that one's proving to be a little tougher!
