Well I've been better. Didn't post hump day weight cause it is climbing yet again! Getting down about it. I decided against weightloss surgery because I Was really uncomfortable with the possible complications and my insides being switched around. When I made this decision I was recovering from a minor surgical precedure that left me with a surgical site open wound infection. I am still recovering from this and it was in March. I have been struggling with diabetes and med changes and just got a call from one specialists office that is now referring me to an endocrinologist. Just had a thyroid ultra sound on Tues and won't get results of that until Wed 17. I feel like a ping pong ball being bounced from Dr to Dr. I still feel that I made the best decision to not have WLS but the non surgical approach is very hard. Guess I just needed to rant a bit. I will check in again soon. Would love to hear updates from others! Deb

I can relate Deb.  It's hard to get the weight under control when other things seem to be affecting it.  I've had a crazy couple of weeks.  Every time my arthritis flares up my body just seems to swell.  The week after I was up .8 I went up another 8 lbs, of course I brought my food journal to the appointment and they asked if I had written everything down.  I told them it wouldn't do me any good not to write everything down and it was just fluid that was the reason for the increase,  I've even kept measurements of my knees to prove to them how swollen they get.  The dr's response was for me to make an appointment to meet with the occupational therapist so that I could increase the amount of exercise I'm doing.  My RA dr changed some of my medications and sure enough the swelling went down and I dropped 11 lbs so now I'm at 286.6.  My food journal was basically the same as it was the week before.  I have really been working at this.  I have changed a lot of my bad habits and have not had any junk food for quite a while.  As frustrating as this is I know I have to keep plugging away at.  Hopefully it will be a while before I have another flare up.

Deb, I hope they get your medications under control and they find ot what is going on.  If it is your thyroid that could explain why it is hard for you to loose weight.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Winifred

Hi Win thanks for your reply. It's nice to know someone else that can relate. My husband can't understand how I can GAIN on a diet. It's crazy! The up down of the numbers is frustrating. I really hope they get things sorted out for me soon. I can't keep track of the different Dr's and appts anymore. I am glad that I will be seeing an endocrinologist hoping to get answers and diabetes
Management. I think my thyroid has been wonky for over a year, so may get some answers. Now the 4 to 6 week wait for appt begins. Take care Win hopefully your RA flareup will subside. Deb
