You know there are two sources of cholesterol - just like they say in the commercial - there is the stuff from animal products that you eat and what your body makes itself to meet it's needs. We don't need any cholesterol in our diet. So yes, if you don't eat any meat products or severly limit them, your cholesterol will start to drop and will continue to drop as you lose weight. If you can do this and wait a month before getting new blood work - it will show a drop. I can't remember what mine dropped - I know my cholesterol was over 200 - could have been something like 220 or 230 when I was on Simvastatin. I had blood work drawn a couple of weeks later and it was something like 170 - this was after stopping medication and being strict on McDougall. I don't know if yours will drop as much as mine did, everyone is different. DH's dropped from the low 200's to 130 after 6 months. BTW our PCP's were both shocked because no medication can lower it that much. But we aren't eating any animal products, so keep that in mind.
BTW, my dad and his two brothers all died of heart disease before the age of 50, so I try to be very careful not to follow in those footsteps.
