What have you done today to make you feel proud? Tues

Moosie is still recovering and doing so well, I'm so happy for her, and I'm posting her daily "proud" post.

I'm proud of my weight loss so I finally decided to add a ticker - and LOL it took me a while to figure out how to do it because it's so easy. I kept trying to copy the different code and it wouldn't work - I finally just highlighted it and pasted it and Voila - it worked. So I now have a signature. I'm also proud that I have now lost 160 pounds from my highest known weight. I'm so excited that I'm only 2 pounds away from being overweight. LOL I never thought I'd be proud to be overweight, but it's a lot better than being morbidly obese.

How was your day, is there something you'd like to share with us here?

I'm feeling really pleased with myself today.  I made healthy choices, drank all my water and went to the gym.  I ate black beans which I had never had before, snacked on fruit and 1 oz of almonds, it is amazing that i was able to control myself with the almonds because usually I would just keep eating until it is almost gone.  I had a good day.

Hi Gloop, I'm so happy you are pleased with yourself - that is such a good feeling. Good for you with your healthy choices. I never knew how much I loved black beans until I started with McDougall LOL - who knew? I'm impressed with you just eating 1 oz of almonds - I just have to avoid all nuts because I have no control whatsoever - I only eat nuts when I have a single serving 1 oz container - the kind they give you on the airplanes - or at least they used to.

Take care good care of yourself.

 Skylar,
For some reason the bottom of your ticker is not showing, maybe its just the view from my computer? but I can see only the top of the butterfly, not the amount you have lost or your goal number? just wanted to let you know!

Hi Michelle, - thanks for letting me know that - I don't know why, sometimes it looks like that and sometimes it looks normal? I'm going to try playing around with it some more. Darn, I want it to work. LOL

I can't see no butterfly.lol  Are you playing games with us Skylar? ;) lol

Well..It's not even nine in the morning yet, but I am feeling pretty good.  All except for this darn tetenus shot the doctor made me get on Monday.  The sight is still swollen and all red, and i can't hardly move my arm.  He never told me it was going to hurt!  Here I have painting to do!! ARGHH

Anyway..My doc appointment went as well as to be expected.  I had to go to two places to get blood work done, NO one can get blood out of me.  The ONE vile they got clotted up, so now I have to go back and start all over again.  I'm going to take a breather, as this was last week and my arms still black and purple.  I told the doc I've been decreasing my inhaler meds.  He made me redo that asthma thingy..(sorry, can't remember what it's called), and he's making me take it more often than I want. Then he's going to try one more statin on me, since I seem to be allergic to most of them.  I'm a little scared tell you the truth.  He's just going to wait until I get my lab work done before giving me that script.  Still on BP pills, blah, blah, blah.

So...the good for the day...is that although he is always pretty nice to me.  He was obese also before, even though now he's a tooth pick!   I told him diets don't seem to go well with me, and I'm giving up on all books.  I've literally been addicted to them for the past few years.  Told him I want to try the old fashioned way, and just count calories.  Seems like it's been a while since I've tried this approach.  Even though I eat fairly well, I am still a fast food junky, and it gets me every time.  I feel deprived, and it leads me right there at their drive thru doors.  Just like that article you just posted...I'm it, I'm that lab rat!..lol    I don't keep bad stuff in the house, but when I am on the road is when I'm in trouble most of the time.  I don't move my body enough also, so he really recommended me getting the bodybugg.  I guess he has a few other patients like me, and they have lost a little bit of weight.  Of course it doesn't do the work for you, but it's a tool that might help me since it will LITERALLY be in front of my face telling me if I've met my goal for the day, or what I have to do too meet it.  They are spendy though, so we will see.  Part of me feels that is just another wasted cost, but they have got great reviews.

Other than that he actually wants me to do 1200 a day, 1400 at the highest.  I have been getting palpitations again, etc.  Think he meant more "business" with me than he has ever done with me before.  So I sort of got the hint I better do it.  I can feel my health deteriorating slowly.  I am up to 305, and I'm 5'2".  Can ya say ouch!!

Gloop- first time you've ever ate black beans?? WOW!!  I am a black bean fanatic!! lol  I have to have them in my pantry at all times.  I eat them on EVERYTHING!! lol  By far my favorite bean.

Pleased to meet you HollyRachel!!  I was beginning to think there were only about 5 people who visited this board.  I enjoyed reading your post, you seem so upbeat despite everything.  Yeah, I started eating black beans yesterday and I've had them for breakfast, lunch and dinner .  I've been sticking to the healthy stuff and I feel fabulous these last couple of days, no cravings!!     If I continue like this I might just escape from having my intestines butchered.

Woot to no cravings!! :)

Wow girl, every meal..eating beans?  Your more daring than I am. LOL

Nice meeting you too! :)  I've been on this board for a while, but anymore just come and go.  It's nice seeing new faces lately!  I'm sure there are even more "lurking" without saying anything.  We just need to say something to make them come alive again!ha

About me being upbeat.  Believe me...I have my days! LOL

Well..at this point in my life I'm figuring I might as well deal with what I got, because I am the one who put myself in this predicament! I've dealt a lot with depression in the past, so I know that dwelling on it, will just make it worse. Once I start, it's hard to bring myself out of it.   Concentrating on the good and healthy aspects of my life can only make me better and healthier!

Looking forward to many healthy conversations! :)

LOL HollyRachel - I wish I was playing games - I want my butterfly to fly. I'm going to have to keep fiddling until I get it to work.

BTW, I used to have problems having blood drawn too - they couldn't see the veins and then they couldn't get any blood to flow. I always try to drink a lot of water before I go and they even bring me water to drink while they try to take blood. I know how annoying and painful that can be - hopefully you can find a phlebotamist who is really good and knows all the tricks.

Don't feel a bad about that article - it's all of us who are addicted - and not just those of us who are obese - that food is killing us.  What is a bodybugg? I used to wear a pedometer until it literally fell into a million pieces - it was fun to see how many steps I took - they are cheap.

I bet the counting calories will work well - and it really makes you think about what you're eating. I can't wait to hear when you start calorie counting. 1200-1400 sounds like good numbers to aim for.

LOL Fly butterfly FLY!

Pffffft, I drink TONS of water before going.  Even when I'm skinny they have problems.  Good thing I don't mind needles! lol  I just hate the "ball" feeling once they clot your vein up.

Well my doc gave me all of my scrips I need except for the statin.  Which I have to say I'm in NO hurry to take.lol  So I'm going to give it another week.  HATE getting blood, I'll put it off until it's absolutely necessary!  I keep thinking...what if I wait another month or so before going back. I"ll be on a low cal diet for a good month.  Wonder how much my cholestrol will go down.lol  I'm seriously thinking about doing this.  Maybe eating as little meat as possible (as low as I can), no fat, etc.  I really am afraid of trying this other medication after two failed miserably.  I was in a LOT of pain!
