Hello Heather,

Keep up the good work!  You are doing great.  The 1000 calories a day is easy in the honeymoon stage of surgery.  All the surgery does is give you a quick weight loss in less time.  Then it is up to you to manage the weight loss or keep it off.  Some times people lose their motivation to keep going when they have hundreds of pounds to lose.  But you are so right about neither road being an easy one.  Many feel that the surgery is the easy way out and it is not.

For me the surgery is the best gift I could have given myself and I still weigh more than you.  I am checking out this sight because I do not think I am willing to do another surgery to get the next 100 off and the 80 I gained.  Good luck to you and again keep up the good work!!

Hi Molly,

Thank you so much for the kind words.  And you have done so amazing!  I truly respect that surgery is the answer for some people - and I haven't ruled it out 100% for myself yet.  But I am worried about what I would be like after the honeymoon stage is over.  That is why I am thinking if I do this slowly and make small changes, then it won't be as hard to live with??  I don't know - I'm totally guessing here! LOL!!  I lost 58 pounds with Weigh****chers before, but that was 130 pounds ago! :)

Good luck to you as well - you can do this - look how far you have come already!?  That in itself is amazing!

Hi Molly, I'm impressed with the weight you have lost. You're right, WLS is hard - after all no one would do it if they only lost a small amount to weight. It's not the easy way out and it doesn't guarantee complete weight loss for the rest of your life either.

I realized that you have to really change how you eat - permanently. I hope you join us here as you continue your weight loss journey. We would love to share our support.

I've lost almost 190 lbs without surgery....I did it via healthy eating and exercise and I've been maintaining it because for the first time in my life I changed my relationship with food.  I eat because I need nutrition....I do not use food to celebrate, to fill a void, to ease my pain.
I did this when I turning 51 so I'm sure you can do it too.

You can do it too!
Best wishes to you

Hi Moosie, I commend you on your amazing achievement.  I will try my best to see if I can do it too.

I'm in the process of changing my diet, relationship with food and my lifestyle.  I'm in training for maintaining.

Instead of using negative terms or vague terms like "see IF I can do it too"...be positive and take ownership; say "I WILL DO IT"

Filling yourself with positive thoughts brings positive results.
