Hi Everyone!  My name is Cetta and I have been lurking around this site for a while now and since I joined, I have decided to introduce myself.
I turn the big 50hhhhhh this summer and after being on WW twice before, I figure the third times the charm right, so I joined again.  This time however, I am doing it the right way...all the way.  First things first, I went and had a complete physical.  Not pleasant, but necessary.  It went better than I expected.  So now I weigh in every two weeks with my doctor in addition to weighing in at WW.
I have the added benefit of having my husband help me along the way.  We are empty nesters (we have 3 boys) so there is no excuse for me to cook unhealthily anymore (not that there ever was one since my boys are all tall and thin).  My husband is an active person and I want us to live a long and exciting life together. He wants to lose a few pounds too, so I don't have to bug him too much to go walking with me.
I am looking forward to hearing some great new ideas to help keep me motivated and to share my successes and failures with.  I don't plan on having a lot of failures so please don't fault me if I toot my own horn   and I look forward to hearing about everyone else's successes.

Thanks for listening.

Hi Cetta, welcome - we love to support each other and we can provide a gentle booting when needed too if you need that also.

It's great that you have a wonderful supportive husband and you can focus on making healthy food and not have to worry about kids in the house. I have the same situation, kids grown and flown from the coop. I totally cleaned out my pantry and fridge from anything that wasn't healthy - it made it easier when I started to make changes because there was nothing to tempt me.  Nothing comes into my house that doesn't meet my strict standards. After awhile I stopped craving crap and now I don't even walk down those aisles in the store - I know it exists, but I don't recognize it as food to eat. Hopefully you'll get to that place too.

DH also walks with me - it's become a wonderful routine where we walk and talk over things, very therapeutic. We walk in the mall so there is never an excuse about the weather. We also keep loose  tabs very informally on how far we walk - so we can see how far and how fast we're walking and enjoy the progress that we've made.

I think it's very helpful to toot your own horn - it makes you appreciate your accomplishments and it also serves as inspiration for the rest of us here. So yes, toot as much as you want. When you're frustrated share that too with us.
