Setting Goals

Do you set goals? When I first started to change my diet to lose weight, I was overwhelmed by how much weight I actually had to lose - 200 pounds overweight is a lot of weight and takes a long time to do. I decided to break it up into very small goals so I would be constantly close to a goal or achieving one. I had numbers on the scale goals and non-weight based ones.

Have you thought about your goals? What are you doing?

Interesting. I do set goals- but I'm always *re-setting* them- so sometimes it feels like I never meet them.  I do the same thing in my personal life. Husband & I will make a plan about something..agree to it, set out on course and my over thinking leads me to change something- and husband is like..ummm- what about the initial plan we agreed on.

So in my current my biggest goal is to stick with the initial one. Thats why I love the food journal I have- it has a section starting out for goals, measurements, food & physical activity targets. I wrote them in when starting out. I can refer back to them anytime I think I need to "amp thing up". I need to remember slow & steady!!

So my current goals are to:
1) journal (food intake) daily
2) Exercise M-W-F
3) Lose 10% of starting weight

My plan to achieve my goals are: 3 meals/2 snacks/day, weigh & measure food, look for way to increase fruit & veggie intake.

My journal covers 90 days, so I'm hoping to achieve my goals in that 90 days- then i'll set new ones :-)

Wow Peachpie - that's wonderful - you understand your problem so you found a way to fix it. I can imagine if you never feel that you accomplished something then things just seem so depressing because you can never reach a moving target goal. But now you have a set goal that is clear when you finished. That's a great idea.
